Hey guys, I posted in another thread about having front sway bar fitment issues and I have since realized that if I cut off the front upturned lip of the front cross member i should have the clearance I need for the sway bar. I am wondering if with the engine in the car if I hook up an engine hoist and put a little upward pressure on the engine can I remove the front cross member without completely removing the engine?
I have searched quite a bit but have not found anything. Also I have found some posts alluding to it but are there different front 510 crossmembers or are they all the same?
thanks.

Remove front crossmember with out removing engine?
Re: Remove front crossmember with out removing engine?
Yes, I've done this a few times for various reasons (oil pan mods, suspension mods, etc) and it's pretty easy to do. Just disconnect the control arms and drop it down.
As for the x-members, '68 and '69 had a different x-member, with higher LCA pivot points and no aforementioned lip.

Thank you duke. Is the newer or older style preferred, or I guess is it better to have the LCA pivots higher or lower?
