Hooked up the fuel tank, everything seems to be working fine! I'm stoked! One step closer to driving my goon! I have to set up my electric fan, I'm not sure where I should hook it into. If anybody has some input it'll be appreciated. I think it has a CanAm box.
Thanks, Greg

Two basic options for the e-fan. KAs and SRs typically have two temp sensors in the coolant necks, one for the gauge and one for the ECU. If you don't need the gauge, you can use a Painless temp sensor kit for the GM stuff that has a metric sender, threads right in.

Alternatively you can use the 240SX inline adapter, a tube that splices in to the coolant hose that has a bung for a sensor.

Both those are shown in my old Whitebird thread, I'd have to search to find specifics...

Those sensors will kick my fan on & off when needed.. That would be great...

You want the rad fan thermoswitch on the radiator outlet/cold side. You only need the fans on when the water returning to the engine is too hot. If you have a VW rad, it'll have a bung near the lower rad hose for just this purpose. I have a 2 temperature thermoswitch there with 1 fan controlled by each temperature trigger and it works great. There's also a manual override switch in the cabin if you really want to cool it off.

This link is essentially what I described. Wiring diagrams near bottom. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_li ... _fan.shtml

I installed two Spal 9" pusher fans and took the main power from the back of the alternator (you could also get the main power from the starter) and ran that to an additional fuse box. Then the fused power went to the relays that controlled the fans. I installed a 185-on/165-off temp sensor in the upper radiator hose to control the fans. I also installed a bypass switch on the dash to turn on/off the fans manually.

Here is my post in "What did you do to your 510" http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12993&start=1410#p251517

Just ask, we are all here to help.

Since I'm running one fan, same set up just eliminate one relay & fan. Where did you purchase the little fuse box & your relays?
Thanks, Greg

I ordered a napa slave cylinder for the tranny, hope it's works okay. For fluid, what I've been reading on different forums is redline MT 90. Once I get that situated & do my exhaust, I'll be rolling.. I'm so stoked! Can't wait! Oh yea, my EL fan relay set up then I'll be rolling.. Thanks for all the info so far!

I've gone away from MT90 as have others. Have a read through this thread: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=27676&hilit=friction

Most pertinent is the post below:
JordanTr wrote:From a bit of reading, it sounds like the GM synchromesh is not GL-4 rated but it is yellow metal friendly so it can be used in our transmissions.

I'd respectfully disagree about the performance of MT-90 and Synchromesh. I ran them back to back and can say without a doubt that the synchromesh shifts smoother at all times but particularly when cold. I don't drive my car in the winter either so "cold" is maybe 10C, not freezing temps.

I'd put the smell of Synchromesh somewhere between the good smell of MT-90 and the skunky conventional oil.

Most people (myself included) are looking to fix an old transmission with tired synchros. The friction modified fluid does wonders compared to something like MT-90. Both my KA trannys had a crunchy 3rd gear before but the new fluid limits it to only immediately after a cold start. Even then, it isn't nearly as crunchy as it was with MT-90.

To add to that, my RB25 transmission behind my RB26 runs the GM synchromesh as well and it has been great.
