Front foot well modification

Post by moath »

Hey all
I just ran across a thread where it was mentioned that you shouldn't need to clearance the footwell area if you've added caster to the front suspension. I've got T3's adjustable TC rods and am planning on running 205/50R15s on the car, but like the idea of going wider and adding flares in the future. The car is primarily for autocross

Thanks!

I run the same tire size on 15x7 +0 wheels, and with added caster, I don't have any problems with the tire hitting the inner foot well. A guy I autocross with runs 15x9's with flares and had problems with foot well clearance (I don't know what he's running for caster though). To resolve this we cut back the foot well about an inch and now he has full steering travel again.

Thanks Duke. Do you happen to know what size tire he was running with the wide wheels?

205/50/15 R888 on 6.5" +30 or 215/40/16 on 8" +30 (~S12V6 struts) on the front of mine with maxed caster from T3 TC rods and . Lightly whacked seam from before but I don't think it was necessary for these setups.
