Tach mod

Post by 68 Wagon » 25 Nov 2013 10:38

I want to use my original orange needle tach in my VG car. What do I need to do?

Swap the guts with those from a Z, or something with a VG in it. You could use this as a basis for the deconstruction and wiring:
DQ Volume 11 Issue 3 - Tech How-To: 510 Factory Tachometer Repair — Updating a previous DQ article using parts still available in most junkyards.

Aftermarket tachs have a switch for 4/6/8 cylinder engines. Jaycar or similar would probably have a quick kit that would do the same. Or it may even be simpler than that, but I'm an electronic simpleton.
