1/4 window stopper?

Post by dodgydan » 10 Jan 2014 16:12

both our 2dr 510's are missing the small bumper/stopper piece that's sits below the 1/4 window. I believe its there to support window when its closed and stop rattles etc. there are 2 small holes for screws/rivits ? anyone have close up picture of this, or can give me dimensions and material so I can make some?
Thanks.

The Parts Catalog shows the bumper, but doesn't give a part number or anything, which is strange. Typically that means that part is cited somewhere else, but darn if I can find it.

Appears to be 2 1/4" long 7/8" wide 3/16 deep. But mine are worn.... I would think micarta is the best to use but a soft plastic would work.

Dan,
I recently dug these out for the Greg Terry Memorial Build. Since the car had very little use (15K miles), I'd be happy to measure mine as they are in great shape. I'm traveling until next weekend for work, but I'm sure we can come up with an answer if you don't find something sooner.
Let me know.

I think the PN is 78136-22200. NLA of course.

If nobody has posted up a pic by Sunday, I can take a pic of the ones on my stocker.

They..mine..appear to have ever so slight a taper, which would make sense when I closed the window, kinda act as a bit of a wedge UP, keeps the Window from drooping from what I can ascertain.

2 small screws are used to fasten it, counter sunk of course.

Finn's dimensions are close to mine.

If you have a modicum of fab skills...just go to a local plastic shop, or scrounge up some plastic this rough size, the file/cut/drill and make the piece. Then, just file a slight taper to it. This piece is not a critical rocket part, so as long as it is close, there is enough tolerance in the window to move around a tad.

If BloodyDick Montana really is off the map,,, scrounge around the house...I would look at one of the white cutting boards..buzz a rough section out of it, file it...bingo, two window wedgies.

I can't tell you how many projects got finished with something scrounged from home....and don't tell my wife about her cookie tray......

It would take me an hour to make two......and what would I charge someone.....if I paid myself 25.00/hr, plus material, plus mailing...would someone really pay 40.00 for them. it cost's me almost 7.oo bucks to mail a small article to the states.....

I doubt they'd sell like hot cakes. If there's one overarching theme of the greater 510 community, it's that collectively we're cheapskates. To make matters worse, we're a relatively small community. That makes for a tough business model.

Im a cheapskate.. but I like most 510 guys on here have no problems throwing hard earned cash on there 510. I dont have the fancy machines to make a "QUALITY" set. So why waste the effort.
