Heater Core to Valve Hoses

Post by TheHeretic »

Got tired of having leaves consistently blown out of the heater so finally pulled it and cleaned out all the remaining leaves. Going to replace all the foam (not sure from where yet?) and get the heater core boiled and pressure tested as I don't want to have to deal with anything heater related ever again! Pulled off the original hoses which was a PITA and am going to replace them. Can't seem to find them online...

Anyone know where to get a set? Pic for reference...

Another idea is to just go to the car parts store and find a hose with a molded 90 in it with enough straight to make the short piece too.

Or fab them yourself from 1/2 inch copper pipe-- plenty of different elbows / connectors available to make them fit exactly right when soldered together, with just a short straight rubber hose joining them to the heater core.

Unorthodox solution I know, but I've done this a couple of times on different cars and it seems to be a fairly permanent, leak-free, cheap fix.

Yeah that is my backup plan if all else fails.

Just to close the loop on this thread - Found out that Dayco #86121 Heater Hose is the right diameter and has enough hose to actually make two sets of replacement hoses. Only $10 on Amazon!

You don't wannna' know how many carpet kits I've gone through! Little beasts! ...I pulled the entire unit, after the core went... I'm is SD, so not much need for a heater.
I'm wondering if anyone has welded pipes to pass through the firewall?
