two door. Door handle rod question

Post by eastbaysolo_73 »

Ok so the rod that connects to the door handle is the one I'm referring too in the picture. Is there a difference in lengths between a 4 door and a two door? My two door car unfortunately did not come with them. I got one from a buddy who has a 4 door and ran into a slight problem. When the rod is attached to the plastic clip on the door handle and fully bolted at the bottom where the rod is mounted I can't move the handle up. I had to loosen the mounting screw at the bottom of the rods mount to get the handle to engage. With the bolt barely threaded on was the only way I can get the handle to lift up and open the door. The next thing I noticed was the handle doest fully disengage. It stays slightly up in the open position due to the length I believe. Thanks in advance any info will be appreciated.

2dr and 4dr have exact same part number. you have a problem with your latch. check the little spring inside latch. they break

I had same issue went to a hardware store and found a spring that fit, working good now. yes you will have to remove the latch assembly from door.

Cool man thanks for the input. Looks like thats what I will be doing today. I still need to get another rod for the drivers side door. Gonna grab and extra spring to be safe for that door when I get to it.

Sorry man neither door latch works or has the missing spring. So I have no idea of what the spring looks like or exactly how it gets mounted. Thanks either way for the reply.
