Pilkington Windshields - Easy and new Availability

Post by zKars »

Over on the Z forums someone pointed out that Pilkington has a new line of classic windshields that is coming to market soon. They spotted it on summit racing's website. The most astonishing thing was that for the S30 chassis, the price is set at $89 bucks! i checked and yes there is one for the 510 as well. It's $195USD

Now the trick here is that they are not available yet. I was told August is the proposed availability date. I have ordered the Z one and will report back when I actually see them.

What I really don't understand is the delivery price. The Z one I ordered had a shipping cost of $40 bucks for Fedex ground to me in Calgary. I don't believe it yet. Will find out when it actually ships if its accurate. I see the 510 windshield is similar.

That is really cool! The blue tint is just like what was factory in my 1973 windshield.

When we did our group buy on the Pilkington's, I think it was about 350.00 it cost us or so.

Keep us posted, that just might be worth grabbing another one for inventory.

That’s great news, aside from the S30 Z and PL510, the 521!pick up is also listed - all for the same price!

I’ll place an order for the 510 one as well, see what happens. I have a Pilkington glass in my 68 4dr that I put in a couple years back, it fit perfectly.

Though is says shipping is free, it also says does not exclude shipping freight cost and over sized cargo cost. Anyone know what those cost could be? because I'd hate to order one then get a $200 cargo/freight charge.

This is really cool, since Summit's west coast warehouse is here in Reno/Sparks and they have 10% off in August.

What did they charge you for shipping/freight?

I just ordered one. They charged $50 for shipping.

Total was $252.99

Price of the glass must have gone up. It is now listed at $202.99

I will post again once it arrives.

I have the original glass as backup, but will likely slang it. Not sure there is a high demand for really old glass?

The windshield arrived today. Ordered on 7/10 and arrives 7/13. Pretty fast via UPS Freight. Came home and it was on my porch.

I opened the box. Windshield
looks good. Decided to measure the thickness. 6.5mm

Measured the Chinese one I have too. 6mm

Not much difference.

Get them while you can. At $250 shipped, it's a bargain.

My son Justin has ordered one shipped to Calgary. It came to $342 usd including shipping. So not cheap by any means. And he has yet to get it, so no idea of brokerage and fees. I'm pretty sure FedEx was an option
So at least ups won't burn him. I hope is much better than Chinese. This will be over 2.5 time the cost. The group buy to Vancouver is starting to look like it was a deal.
