Hmm, I don’t know Jeff.
With the slack in holes mounting the X member (yours or factory) and the slop in the holes for the TC mounts and the bolting on of the struts themselves.... I don’t think there’d be any difference if it was a rack or steering box to be honest.
I disconnect the column and drop the whole steering gear with the X member, just like you’d do with the rack.
It doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to try your system - maybe I need a test run :-)

I thought that too. We pulled our race car apart a bunch putting a few different transmissions in. The tape measure with the turning plates measured within our specs. We didn't undo the struts, we have those holes at a very high tolerance as to not slip.
