New Vancouver Member - 240z

Post by HuD_91gt » 27 Jul 2015 09:31

Hello everyone.

I was suggested this forum from a nice fellow on one of the 240z forums. He said there are a few of us 240z guys hanging around these parts. Just want to say hi, if you see me around Vancouver (BC), give me a honk and say hi. I'm pretty new to the Datsun world, but i'm learning lots due to the abundance of information online and the amount of work that has already gone into my Z.

Cheers

Welcome - there are a number of Z and ZX guys on here - fully part of the community.

Filling in your general location in your avatar is best as there are literally thousands of members on this forum from literally all parts of the globe. You posted questions will get a better response if everyone knows where you are.

We have a couple Nissan events coming up soon locally here in Vancouver;

Check out the All Nissan Meet, Aug 9th which I'm putting on in North Vancouver;

And a long standing, highly regarded Datsun guy, Glen is putting on the Nissan Round Up on Aug 30th;

Also, a drive was scheduled for this past weekend, but got rained out, so look for the updates here;

These would be great places and times to catch up with local Datsun enthusiasts. There’s always something coming up, and there is usually multiple car shows at various venues throughout the summer. Always something going on.

Welcome to the Realm.

Thanks for the links! With my engine just have been pulled last weekend, and searching for a local machinist to go over the bottom end i'm out for the cruise. But the Aug 26th meet looks promising, to check out at least. The orange one may be off the road until after that I'm sure.

Looking forward to meeting some more people in the community that's for sure.

Thanks for the links! I think pacific parts (the machine shop) shut down recently. I went there a few months back and they were just winding down. Sad really. I'll have to check out the other link though.

I tried adding more pictures with my phone it te file size is too large. Next time.

Let me try this one. Some may cringe at this, but I think it is fantastic. Pictured with the new, and ultimately ring less engine which I just pulled out a week after I put it in.

The trailer is perfect, looks fine to me.

Damn on the motor though, hope that gets sorted.

Just to correct Byron's date for Glens NISSAN show, at the West Coast Auto group, it is August 30th, which is a Sunday, NOT the 26th.

Block was dropped off at Magnem. It was an easy choice since high performance engines are closed the last 2 weeks of August.

This is just because High Performance Engines go for holidays - correct? I just wanted to be clear :-)

The guys at Magnum have treated me well – I’m glad these two shops are still hanging in there. It seems even engine rebuilding is becoming a thing of the past.

Yup. You nailed it. Dave at hi perf was great to talk to on the phone. I would have really liked to have brought it to him for from my first experience over the phone but I have a bunch of time to tinker at the end of august. Unfortunately they pick some prime time vacation (great for them!). Randy has it under control it seems. Hope to hear from him soon.
