Hello Dimers!

Post by rdanard »

Hey guys, My name is Ryan and I live in Nanaimo. Im 31 and have been into 510's since I was about 16 I got my first 2 door 510. Unfortunately working away over the years had taken its tole on my first 510, it sat and rusted out pretty bad to the point where I stripped it for all its good parts and sold the shell to someone in Nanaimo about a year ago. But.... when I was in the process of deciding what to do about my rotten 510 a nice 2 door became available in Nanaimo around the same time and I was lucky enough to scoop it up and start my dream again and get another 510 on the road. When i bought this car I was more concerned about the body then anything else, its in great shape for its age and only need a few panels in need of repair. This new 510 had a fresh ka24de swap with a mega squirt setup. I was hesitant about diving into the fuel injection world but im glad I did, this car was built right by the last owner and its starting to show. The car did have a r200 in the rear but the previous owner kept it, I had a 3.9 open r160 from my other 510 that i could swap in.

Long story short I got the car and over the past winter i have swapped in my r-160, fresh bushings out back, rear disc brakes that came with the car i believe out of a maxima, my old rear suspension that was from specialty engineering. The previous owner had a cheesie Aluminum dash in it so i swapped in my factory dash with the auto meter gauges I've had sitting on the shelf for about 10 years that i had planned to put into my first 510. Also a new rad, fuel pump, cleaned out the old gas and gunk from the fuel cell, freshened up the grill with parts ive had also, installed my turbo sprint seats ive had in my old 510 also.

Most recently last weekend my buddy whose experienced with the mega squirt came over and spent a few hours tuning the car and got it running. The engine is claimed to be built already for a turbo application and had some big injectors ( I think 440cc ) installed and running on a stock tune so it was over fueling like crazy and stalling.....within a few hours my buddy got the car fired up and purring. Im very excited to be this far along with this car and i have to give some props to the guy before who swapped in right and didnt take short cuts. The electrical is all there even right down to the turn signals, running lights and horn....

Hopefully in the coming days I can finish my exhaust ( its a straight header ending under the drivers seat) and get closer to be driving this 510 around Nanaimo.

Just wanted to introduce myself again and let you guys in on my current build. This website if filled with lots of awesome datsun enthusiasts and selling some parts lately I have met a few members and I cant wait to get this car rolling and meet some more!

Just after i finished writing my post I actually came across a photo of my first 510. The original color was green when I got it, then later had it painted the blue you see here....I think I had this on the road from 2001 to 2005.
