Looking for help on Vancouver Island
Looking for help on Vancouver Island
I used to be a certified 5-10 nut and have had over a dozen of them in the past.
Now that I need a simple bell housing pattern I cant find a trans or even a dust shield in my junk.
Anyone in the Parksville area with a trans from an L series I can borrow for a few days?
Here is one of my cars from back in the day.
Here is my L20B/L16 toy

Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
You've been pmed. You would have think I would recognized one of those. I guess I have not been here long enough.
Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
WOW, thanks MikeY for dropping off the parts 1/2hr after this posting!
Now I can get that EV adapter built.
It would have been the mid 80's when I stopped racing and sold all my Datsun stuff.

Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
Yet another example of "once a Datsun nut, always a Datsun nut". Could say welcome back, but I don't think you ever really left.
Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
It was nice to meet you Randy. I'm sure we would all like as much information as you care to give on an electric. 510. Even a link to your web site. Maybe the wagon owner could be convinced to giving a a build thread. We love pictures.
Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
I will ask my customer if he can post a build thread.
Our web site is http://www.canev.com/ and for the last 25 years we have been converting "stuff" to electric.
The last year I also got the diesel bug and started this web site: http://gastodiesel.tdconversions.com/
I still have a 1976, 280 2+2 to restore when I retire so yes I'm still a nut, just a more diverse nut.

Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
I've been looking at crashed Leaf's and the wheel base of the 620 KC....
Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
A few people are starting to use the batteries out of the Leaf and I would think they will be a very cost effective way to get lithium until the auto wreckers get used to handling them and a good recycling system is in place.
Re: Looking for help on Vancouver Island
I now have a transmission adapter to swap a VW TDI into a Nissan/Datsun.
Should make a fuel sipping street screamer. Maybe my 280 will be a test bed.

Yup, a lot of good times in both those cars.
The first one actually towed a Boler trailer on our honeymoon.
Speedy Lou!
Doing good, trying to retire so I can get back to the important things in life... cars.
Stop in any time.

The XJ is the family wagon, big turbo, big exhaust and a stage 4 tune. Goes like stink.
The JKU is our daughters, bone stock TDI pulls it around nicely and gets almost twice the mileage of the 3.8L gas engine.
Our "road trip" vehicle is an 08 Dakota with a Cummins ISB170 and NV4500 5 speed.
Now were really off subject!
Wonder what ever happened to my red, blue and yellow 510. I know Callum W painted it all yellow but lost track of it after that.
