6 Key points to remember when doing an engine swap. (this applies to ANY VEHICAL)
1. Research.
2. Research.
3. Research.
4. Make a budget, and then double it.
5. If it looks suspect, replace it.
6. Research some more.

I say go all Mr. T on it - bust out the oxy/fuel torch and turn it into a cabbage-launching cow catcher!

I agree with you that you are getting shit-talked big time! It's kind of a ritual around here when some "newbie" (new around this website anyway) gets a 510 and immediately starts talking big about swapping in a super duper motor because the existing Datsun motor is not running so great, and obviously the single biggest problem with the car. Seeing as how you are still smiling, then don't worry about the shit-talk. Let's all focus on you making your car into a fun kicking machine, instead of it being a shit-talking machine.

These guys are local - http://www.nagasakijdmmotors.com/catalo ... -c-52.html

Then you need another bag full of money to finish the swap.

Nagasaki is a good place to buy an engine. That's where I got my sr20.

I bought the car and saved it. Motor was good. Needed some brake lines and a starter. Easy fix.
