The 510 Realm

Is there a way to get an Island chapter of the 510 club on the Island here again,

what's wrong with VIDE?
and there's no reason why you couldn't start another one, but I'd look into why the last one didn't last.

The last one was yrs ago (like from what i remember 10-12 yrs) when Byron left,But there are still a few of us die hard 510 guys over here and vide does not seem to fill the need.(no insult intended)

The 510 Club's Island Chapter (started by Byron, with some help from Pat Roberts too maybe?) split from the club because the president of the 510 Club at the time alienated the Island Chapter members and told them they were not worth the time nor effort (something to that effect, but it was a long time ago now...). The group of Van Isle. members, "Island Chapter" left by their own choice, then regrouped with other Datsun enthusiasts (Z's, roadsters, etc..) and formed VIDE, Vancouver Island Datsun Enthusiasts. That's how I remember the story. As 510Freak pointed out, that was about 10-12 years ago too...

Last year, the 510 Club Directors had talked about trying to get the Island Chapter members back into the 510 Club as the "Isand Chapter" but it never amounted to much more than a discussion amongst the high council whilst smoking peace pipes. I still think it would be awesome to get the Island guys back in the club. On that note, if a few 510 Club guys on Vancouver Island want to get together for a meeting once a month, discuss things/events/whatever/bench race, and call themselves the Island Chapter, thats how it would start up again. Send in a brief "what's new on the Island" report to the newsletter editor ( editor510@hotmail.com ) and all of a sudden, we will have an Island Chapter again which would be great!

I think Rob is on the right track. If you guys would like to designate an Island coordinator, and sign up as 510 club members, we could print info about Island meetings and events etc in the 510 newsletter. I'm sure Richard would love the extra content, and we would love the new club members! You could organize your own monthly meetings, and have the info printed in the newsletter for all island members to see. Do you have a rough idea as to who would like to be involved? Are there any old 510 club members on the Island that would like to renew their membership?

The only drawback that I can see is that we don't want to alienate our current VIDE population, by becoming exclusive to 510's on the Island. They are after all, one of the four clubs that make up our DNBC conglomerate. I will discuss it with the rest of the 510 club executive.

Dispite their (best?) efforts the VIDE site is still a dumping ground for spam 'n porn. Sorry if that stings a little but... As a Datsun lover first and an Islander second, I would support a site here for like minded enthusiasts, something closer to home, uniquely Island. Even VIDE, under certain met conditions.

We could make a Island specific part of the web forum. Is that something you guys would be interested in?

This would be an awesome start for us i think.

Well looks like Spencer is the man with the magic fingers, and you guys have your own category. Unfortunately, looks like an AMERICAN has violated it before any Island folk had a chance. Way to go JEFF...

Byron, Aron and I will be meeting tonight to discuss some club business, so we will pass around the peace pipe, and dwell on the thoughts of the Island club chapter and dream up some kind of legislation to govern the masses...
