DATSUN 1300 CAMPER

Post by bertvorgon »

My son and I went for a cold mountain bike ride this morning, and a few blocks away, on one of the side streets on the way to the forest, I saw THIS! It was pretty solid other then what appears to be some surface rust.

My Dad had a 1984 Nissan, with the camper on the back, dual wheels, twin plug motor. That thing was great, and other than the steepst hill, actually went very good.

1300? jeez... talk about a snail.

but what a great find! ditch the camper, and have a clean rare 4-headlight 520!

Looks like a 521 to me, down here 69 was the last year of the 1300. All I have to say is it must be fun stopping that with drum brakes

i think you're right. i looked closer at the bigger versions...
being beige, and the viewing angle, help hide the curves too.

but now it's no where near as cool...

Yeah the snow makes it hard to tell, The hood and front end usually makes it easy to tell but in those photo's its hard to tell. I'm still impressed a J13 moving all that weight.. They did come with super low gears! Even the L series 521's suck on the freeway! :D My 78 king cab still IMO has crappy gearing for the freeway, in 79 they did raise it to 4.11, I've been looking for one at Pull A Part. I'm sure it would be fine with 3.7's with my KA, but 4.11's would be good enough :D

My wife absolutely loves those trucks. There is a perfect white 69 1300 521 around here in New West that we've been keeping an eye on!
