NapZ22E (200SX) Actual Rod Length

Post by Byron510 »

Hey all. I'm just crunching some numbers here, but need a confirmation on a rod length from those who've phisically checked themselves.
I need a confirmation from someone who's actually measured a true Z22E (81-83 200SX) rod Center to Center length. Now before you go and look it up in Franks "How to Modify Book" - Stop. I believe that listed number to be wrong, as it lists both the L20B/Z22S and Z22E rods at 145.9 mm (5.75"). I would hazard to guess that the Z22E (200SX) rod is closer to 148.4mm (5.843"), but I need a confirmation on this is anyone has actually checked.

Thanks guys,
Byron

BYRON great minds think alike! i am in agreement that the rods are different. I just dropped all my goodies off with my machinist and the Z22 pistons that i brought him will not go on the L20b rods that came out of my L20b reason being that the piston is to short and the wrist pin is to small. So im going to the J/y saturday if the weather holds out and im going to pull the engine out of the 83 200sx that is there and the z22 truck moter that is there and take some very detailed measurements.
for my situation my L20b that i tore down has had some work done (po), so the rods i have may not be L20b rods
The pistons that i ordered may not be the correct pistons
and i have had a string of bad luck so far this month so it is more than likely both of those problems.

I was reading Jason Gray's build spec recently and I believe he covers that subject.

I see his site is not back up. I wonder what "Content Blocked" means?

Here is the motor spec page in its full, whole, info-oozing self.
