ok, back to the HL510.....
So does octane effect brake pad wear also ?
OF crourse tobie. Let me explain:
With the higher octane rating your car is soo much faster. Well, with this increase in speed you must of course still stop. This means applying the brakes harder, and generally for a longer period of time. which effectively wears out your brake pads faster!

Its getting very hard to get jets in N.America for Mikuni's, as they have stopped making carbs for cars and are only making them for Bikes. There is a guy in Italy that has lots of parts, I did have his email address, but cannot find it. You can find him on Ebay. Do a search for Mikuni Solex, he sells tons of carbs. I bought a awesome weber 40DCOE from him. It took two weks to get here, and only cost $20.00 for shipping.
I'm having a hard time figuring out a brake combination as well. The toyota 4x4 calipers didn't bolt up in the front, was going to try the Volvo 240 calipers, but not sure if I need the sterling or non-sterling, vented or non-vented ones.
If anyone knows a good brake upgrade for the HL, please let me know.
If you want to do some fabrication, the 80-83 200SX struts would be a good upgrade? I don't think the 280ZX struts would be too tough either.
And for a disc upgrade in the rear you could just swap in the complete rear end from the same 80-83 200SX? It has discs factory. Only downside is it's about 1.5-2" wider. Perfect if you want newer (deeper offset)wheels...
