Nissan commercials

Post by two_68_510s »

I don't know what it is, but the new batch of ads for Nissan are really annoying.
I know I am getting old, but please, is the consumer that shallow? (YES!!)

Holy Cow...I have not heard Robert Crumbs name mentioned since the early 70's! I still have some "underground" comics in my collection of STUFF.

One of my best is.."The Collected Adventures of Harold the Head".

Thanks John, that was an instant flashback to a different time..oh the colours......JIMI.....

speaking of commercials, did anyone else see the 510 in the great clips commercial last night? saw it during the Navy vs. San Diego State game on ESPN.

Yup..that's about right.

We have the Georgia Straight news paper still here today, which was an underground, counter culture paper back in the early 70's. They featured lots of those artist's, one of which was Rand Holmes, who did Harold the Hedd, the character who fought our local mayor at the time, who was very strongly anti-pot and anti-hippie.

first time in many, many years this has cropped up and looking online, I see I have a very rare copy, kinda cool.

i will have to sit down one day and check out some of my other things, I have some early BIG LITTLE BOOKS...they are really cool.

a little jacking, but an artist friend of mine while I was living in Venice CA was friends with Crumb and had a bunch of pencil drawings of his framed in his hallway. They were kind of personal illustrations about their relationship to people they knew in common, really cool stuff.

At one time I had the 'collected adventures' also and one full length HH story about flying back from Mehico with a Lancaster bomber full of pot. Him and cousin Elmo from Owl's Eye Alberta.

Hah...I still have mine! Makes me want to open up my storage trunk and drag them out.

I also have the first editions of Heavy Metal comics and National Lampoon's humour magazine.

All worth zip for the most part, but the art work alone is worth the price of admission.

I had a customer once that had a DC-3 full of pot from Mexico, back in the 70's..he crashed in Arizona...
did some serious time back then...he's main cargo was something else, destined for us..THAT got confiscated also. I'll tell you that story in Canby this coming year.

Fans of Robert Crumb should watch the movie American Splendor.
