Repurposing Heater Core

Post by loungin112 »

So a few weeks ago I found two brass heater cores at an estate sale. For $10, I thought they were a bargain and I was sure I could find something to use them for. Aside from using them as a heater core (duh), what other purposes can you guys think of? I was pondering an oil cooler perhaps? Or maybe a secondary miniature radiator for use during the summer months? What would be the strengths and weaknesses of using a miniature brass radiator in a manner other than what it was intended for? I know there are affordable options for new aluminum styles, but these have that cool vintage look...and my radiator guy swears by brass over aluminum.

I will post pics later today.

(Disclaimer - I will have them cleaned and pressure checked prior to any use)

My only concern would be pressure, as our oiling systems are anywhere from 50 - 80 PSI when cold on start up.
