What it is ... Previously owned by Sports Imports... any history prior to that would be cool.

Well, if it's any help I went for a ride around Ross's old yard in it :D ! It was previously owned by a friend/customer of his so you might ask him about the PO though ....

I posted the photos here because they are a bugger to post on the RMP-O forum... its a neat rig...Runs, needs a clutch adjsutment and a rebleed onthe Brakes... The metal work is very hacksaw- brutal actually, but I'm going to fit new panels and redo the welding better then give it a 2 tone BRE paint job in Tremclad/Rustoleum...

Wild. Will an L28 fit?

L28, hell go RB!!

That is a very cool rig, Merlin. I looked at it in Ross's yard - neat, but not for me.

I have a question, though. Was there originally back windows in this thing? I have a couple sales brochures at for for this rig, I'll try and scan them in, but I remember there being back windows.

And it looks like one of your parks might be missing a gate - the PO welded it to the front af that Patrol :D

Plenty of room under there for pretty much any motor. The stock 6 is a 4.0L and has 235lb/ft of torque, so its not really all that under powered. But an LD28 Bio/Diesel would be cool.

Merlin, I think I have a spare set of 2 piece back doors with windows among other extra parts. If you need anything let me know. I got to start walking again this week :D , but it'll be another 2-3 weeks before the walking cast is off so I won't be able to access any of the parts until then (still too much snow drifted up in that part of the yard)

You don't need a new engine in that thing unless you really want to go diesel for the adventure of finding used oil. A 4.0 liter engine can get you even more power with traditional mods - head work primarily. You could even fuel inject it to get nice driveability and maintain (increase?) mileage while raising power. Keep at it; it will be nice to see done.

Alright, now I see you were actually being serious.
A diesel in any off road machine is a good idea. They are more water resistant (the motor anyways), operate at really extreme angles (no float bowl to keep level), go further on the same quantity of fuel and deliver more torque when you need it (rock crawling).
But in the end, I'm sure Merlin has no plan to do any of this, it'd be great just to see than rig on the road! Don't change a thing on the outside Merlin - it's perfect.

LOL on Gate... that thing is coming off!

Yes they have barn doors onthe back, 4 separate sections and the top has windows... I have them, just not installed.

the plan is to give it a quick structural wled job, a new Wilwood dual brake MC with a 210 booster to replace the old single, and a good safety run through end to end...

Theres' not really any point in making this thing too pretty, it's verging on "pull the vin., plates and set it on fire on the side ofthe road" status.
