1979 200SX/Silvia

Post by m.creer »

Hi. I'm new to this forum, an was wondering if my car would be ok to post on here. It's a 1979 200sx. In japan it's a Silvia S10. I know it isn't a 510, but it does have an L20B an dogleg 5 speed.

I don't see an issue with it at all.
Welcome to the Realm.
We've had a bit of a technical issue with our photo and search functions on the site. Our chief IT guy (and site administrator) is on a trip to the Far East, and will be back in a few weeks. So I apologize for the technological break down with your photos not showing. For now, a few people like my self are hosting photos elsewhere and linking them to our site until this all gets rectified.

I wouldn't say the SR is definitely better than the KA, though. Depends on many factors. CA18DET is different all the same. Not a lot of CA swaps here in the US - they make good power and are smallish.

Yeah sorry. That's why I posted the cardomain url. There are alot of pics of my car on that site. I also considered the CA18 but I'm not that into turbos. I love the way they sound but unless your goin for a darg car I think NA is better. Instant throttle.

I know the KA is good too. But I want a 2 liter DOHC motor. I have a S30Z an A Starion Turbo. So I want the 200sx to be a little NA or supercharged screamer.

Depends on how you size the turbo, among other things. Those peak-number dyno whore turbo setups drive like they do for a reason as well.

Makes sense. I know turbos can be great. I like them, just not as much as a high rpm na motor. The supercharger idea is just me tryin to be a little diffrent. I mean how many sr20det datsuns are there now.
