Ford engine ID HELP

Post by PoorMtnKid »

So my uncle has had this engine in his garage for 5 years now. He said he would give it to me to put in the 510 however........its ford.....I want to stick with nissan. He said it was out of a "bull ring" race car. I guess the guy who he got it from was winnning race after race for many years so they inspected the motor and found that something with it was illegal for the class and they made him rip it out. Just trying to figure out what kid of motor it is, what its worth?

Only stamp numbers i could find on it were two on the block

Looks like a 2.3. A buddy of mine had one in some little car.

Looks like it could be this

Pinto rises again. Lots of go-faster parts for those - Pegasus Racing has a number of catalog pages devoted to it.

From what I understand (which isn't much) the 2.0 and 2.3 blocks were identical other than bore size for most of the years. I bet with the stuff that's on that motor is that its a 2.3....
