My '75 IH Scout II

I bought the Scout II in early '99. Along with moving to Las Vegas, this was what probably put the '72 510 on hold. It started out to be a tow rig that the family could pile in to tow the sand rail to Glamis, but we sold the rail & I got involved with 4 wheeling the Scout. I've rebuilt the motor, trans, axles, etc. I thought doing a spring-over lift & 33" tires would be adequate, then I moved back to So. Cal. & started wheeling with a different group (ScoutsWest.com). Since then, a bit more lift, 35" tires, bead locks, on-board air compressor, roll-caged, 1100W 110 V AC inverter. Now I'm twisting axle shafts, breaking R&P's & bent a rear axle housing. Too much tire & weight for the stock Dana 44's. This next year I'll be building up another frame with a Dana 60 front & Corporate 14 rear axle & swap my body on it. I'll be trying to get the '71 510 set-up with my good parts off the '72 so I can use it as my daily driver during that time.

April 19-21 was my "Scout" clubs' annual event. The video is about 14 minutes long, Starts in the KOA campground thru the trail run I led. My rig is in the start of the video, @ 6:32 & 7:40. Leading a run, you don't get in too much of the video or pictures, but it was fun though. On our Friday pre-run of the trail, I pulled the front spring hanger out of the frame rail which wedged in to the steering linkage. Had to jack back into place & use the winch cable to hold it in place til we got back to camp. Used a Ready Welder spool gun & 2 batteries series together to repair it. This is what side-tracked me away from the 510 stuff for awhile. Now I'm sharing time between the two.

No doubt!

Much Damage? (Insert Max stuff here)
It appeared to come to rest fairly quick and solid.

The quarter panel was already damaged, but the front fender was fine. Bent the mirror arm & cracked the lens. No damage to the top/windshield frame. Started up and smoked for about 45 minutes. The girls were with me, my wife was at camp. We all crawled out, they enjoyed it.
