now I'm kind of wondering what kind of sound systems people on the forum have for playing their music through?

This conversation just reminded me, that I have two boxes of 33's, that I need to be gone!
I don't have the heart to throw them out, they need to go to a good home! I beleive McShagger has a neigbour........

Jacket art was the best, some very cool stuff was done.

What links music are they? I have a collection of 12" from my club DJ days that I could add to (never counted how many I have but they take up about 10" of shelf)

I myself have a few old speakers and amps to tinker with. I realized it was waaaay too much when I calculated the output to be almost 14 Horsepower

How many HP is your audio system? :)

(746 watts = 1 Horsepower)

Rats, I lose big time on this one. 1/2 horsepower in the car, maybe 1/2 for my home theater stereo, very clean sound though.

heh. I have the potential for 4.8 horsepower in car and about 3.75 in home depending on the amps I use at one time (not the ones I use normally...that's only about .75).

It would also depend on speaker efficiency, heat and other losses. Not every watt would be turned into sound pressure.
In my truck I have about 400 watt amp plus the 4x50 watt at the head , so way less than 1 hp, 2X10"and 6X6" speakers (not in doors either), and a 12 CD changer. It's adequate for me. At hone, a home theater surround bla bla bla. BUT if I visit my dad in Ontario, I also visit an old friend, drink a beer, play pool and listen to John Prine on a pair of $15,000 Martin Logan electrostatic speakers, and the system to run them.

Right, and in car I'm not running my front stage amps very hard, or at as low an impedence as they can handle, that's why I said potential ;)

In home I have a behringer ep2500 but I don't use it. I got it for my sub, but it gets loud enough off the 250w plate amp I have and the ep has a fan...not real loud but enough to be noticeable.
