new project, '73 Nova

Post by finn »

the 510 is basically done so time to start the American muscle project I've wanted for some time. I was looking for a chevy 2 for a little while but it became evident that I couldn't find a V8 2 door within my budget so I opened my search and ended up with a 1973 2 door Nova 350 custom. 350 sbc th350 3 speed. runs good, body is good, just full of painted over paint. needs new shocks and small shit like that. got a new HEI distributor that's waiting to be installed. I spent all weekend welding in some exhaust tubes to have the exhaust reaching the back. the PO had a friend install a flowmaster kit that dumped it off under the car and it was way too loud :x during my install I found that they didn't use normal thin walled pipe for the exhaust but what seems like industrial tubing that weighs a ton os i'll have to go back to that to replace to cut unwanted weight. only rust in the car is in the trunk and its just surface rust so scored on that one. I had some new cobras thrown on last weekend and found a bulge this evening  looks like the bead never stuck in a spot so taking it back so they can try AGAIN. all in all its a great starting point for less than $5k so plenty of money to throw at it.

isn't that interesting? I've never seen one like that in summit or jegs so I'm assuming its an older design. not sure though. works good though :)

Nice car! My dad had a 66 chevy 2 for 17 years!( since I was born) and finally sold it this summer for 12,500$
It had the 327 bored out
My dad then bought me a 71 chevy c10 with a 396 in it!
But the 350 will do well!!
Just don't be going down the highway floorin it;) the 3 speed sucks for that ahahhaa

How about a 468/th400? Forged internals, balanced, ported & cc'd - should be making just under 500hp but built to handle a 300 shot. It was built for a car lost in a poker game so the engine just sits in my garage.

Have some axles as well!

Just a thought.
