This year Collin Jackson, of Specialty Engineering, is heading down to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the run-offs. He will hit there this week with practice starting next week.

His race is on Saturday, Sept 30 at 5:30 AM PMT, in the morning. We should be able to see it live stream, if all the technology works.

This link should take you to the SCCA site and then the "RUNOFFS ON DEMAND" is supposed to stream the race.

Lets wish Collin the best and a safe race. Competition looks huge this year in all classes as everyone of course wants to run on part of the famous Indy Circuit.

Several 510s hope to make the show as well -- Dave Patten in F Production, Roger Welling and Alex Burnett in HP, plus a group of 240Z's in EP.

So far Collin's practice has gone ok. Track is tighter than thought so they are going to change gearing down a bit. He has done 3 session's so far, air temp is quite hot there.

Just to clarify, Indy is 3 hours AHEAD of us on the coast, so Collin's race will be at 5:30 AM on Saturday Sept, 30th.

Qualifying for GT-3 starts Monday at 5:00 AM our time, Tuesday at 5:56, Wednesday at 5:28 and Thursday at 5:00 am again.

Looks like 18 cars in GT-3 class.

Practice update.

So, Collin is having a conflab with the Goodyear tires guys, who built him tires for this event, that they need to be a bit harder compound.

Quote: "Collin takes new tires and makes them into old tires..Quickly"

Andy on his thoughts on Indy....."It's Mission with Bricks!"

So far car working well, likely no more practicing, First qualify is at 5:00 AM Monday. Temperature looks to be hot all week but chance of rain on Friday.

Collin was NOT mentioned to win....but...so far...the closest guy is 7 seconds behind. As the price to practice is stupidly expensive....$895.00 for the first day, it is thought that some are waiting till the last practice day, @ 425.00. And this is amateur sport....

At least Collin is out first thing, so he gets the cooler part of the day, they are 18 minute sessions.

Wow.....7 seconds behind....that's huge. They are probably running just below 2 min laps in GT3.

The other fellow has now come out, Joe Kristensen,( Acura RSX) he is just less than 2 seconds behind Collin. Collin said he does not have us on power on the straight.

Collin hit 142.6 MPH through the speed trap. I think his best lap time has been 1:47:xxx

Have not seen any practice for the 510 guys yet.

The first qualifying session is now done.

Collin is 1st in GT-3, with a 1:46:158....the fellow who was picked to win has turned 1:49:446.

There are of course another 3 qualifying sessions to go, so time will tell...pun intended.

There were 50 cars out there, so managing traffic is also key, which Collin is a master at. He is also running right up there with the GT-1 and T-1 cars too.GT-1 top qualifier did a blistering 1:37, with the rest scattered between 1:40 and Collin's time.

I see NO listing for ANY 510's this year??!!!

Just watching the SPEC MIATA qualifying...88 cars total, they have had to make two groups, then will bust that down to the top XXX.

Lap times, to compare to Collin....1:59:xxx

15 cars within 1 second of each other, 1st group.

Qualifying Day 2:

Collin did a fast lap of 1:45:481 VS Kristensen's 1:48:460, so he is maintaining his time gap. Sounds like car is running very well and the cooler morning temperatures really benefit Collin and his tires.

I did see a guy CUT across the track at a right angle, to get into the pit lane...right in front of Collin...a really stupid move as he was virtually right beside but on the other side of the track, at almost a dead stop. then turned instantly right, as Collin swept through the corner.

Nice to hear the commentator say Collin was: " The class of the field", and mention Specialty Engineering

Each time Collin competes in the run offs it appears he's unflappable, perfect focus and perfect consistency, never looses pace looking in his mirror or anything. Baffles me how he developed the skill.

That is exactly right. Collin has done a lot of the top end professional driving schools...and tuned up a few people there! Even one well known hot shoe, at a skid school. The hot shoe "technically" wrote off the race car..Collin handled it no problem.

Collin is a natural in my opinion, could have been a full on professional driver.

Talked to Tracey, who just got off the phone with Andy....The WHINING has started....they brought Collin to tech to check out the SIR for size...of which it is totally legal and a micro bit under size so there could never been an issue. I have seen an watched the car and stuff that goes into those motors, which are only a part of a greater package.

Collin brought the A+ game!!! Why not, it is the run-offs. Andy asked one of the GT-3 guys about his tires...he did not want to spend the money on Goodyears...too expensive.....WWWHHHAAATT!!!

One of the other guys did not show up for the first practices..on a course that no one has run. I Know I would call it SEAT TIME.

Collins high speed control is impeccable, to which one of the GT-1 guys, who thought he would follow Collin into and pass in a corner...went WTF...and then proceed to comment that HE decided to follow Collin to learn the lines.....

Collin will go to grid tomorrow morning and see what the flavour of the day is if he will go out again. He also thinks he can get in the 1:44:'s.

What does Spd S1 S2 S3 mean?

Also what exactly is GT-3 and does it differ from GT-1?
