Spd is speeds through the speed trap. S1 S2 S3 are your sector times.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Gt-1 is usually V-8 powered cars making upwards of 800+ Hp, Collin Makes 300+ out of his 2.4.

All GT cars are totally tube framed.

GRAND TOURING

GT cars are purpose-built, highly modified “silhouette” replicas of series-produced sports sedans. GT cars are permitted tube-frame chassis with performance being equalized by allowing cars with smaller engines to compete at a lighter weight. GT-1 cars are the fastest of the category, and are the closest to the SCCA Pro Racing® Trans-Am® Series. Several of the current front running cars in GT-1 are last year's Trans-Am cars, and many of these GT-1 drivers compete in select Trans-Am events throughout the season. GT-2, GT-3 and GT Lite cars get progressively lighter and less powerful. Cars include Toyota Celicas, Mazda RX-7s, Nissan 200SX, Honda Civics and Austin Mini Coopers, just to name a few.

TOURING

In response to the ever increasing performance of today's street cars and to expand participation by various manufacturers, SCCA has developed a category for those cars which because of their performance potential, required some changes to their wheel/tires and suspension components. Touring 1 (T1) features the Porsche 996, Aston Martin Vantage and Touring 2 (T2) includes the Chevrolet Camaro SS, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and others. Front runners in Touring 3 (T3) include the BMW Z4, Ford Focus ST and the Honda S2000; while Touring 4 (T4) is comprised with the likes of the Scion FRS and Acura RSX-S.

Andy and Collin made the decision, after looking at air temp, track condition, the latest Trump tweet, and decided to let Kristensen give it his best shot. I'm pretty sure they knew that there was not going to be any miracles. The best the Kristensen turned was was 1:48:382, so basically 3 seconds behind, which is HUGE when dealing with Collin.

That being said, It's not over till it's over.

Third qualify session results not posted up yet.

Nice that BOTH the front runners are CDN...Eh!

One more day of qualifying, then Championship races begin on Friday. Thursday qualifying for the GT classes is at 5:00 AM our time

So Collin's 240sx is tube frame? Do all the cars have to run the same tube frame?

They are full on race cars, so each car MAY come from a shop that does chassis, or, like Collins, was built by Andy, as have all his tube frame cars.

A chassis will depend on what the designer THINKS is the stiffest/and or or best way to hang suspension.

I will throw up a few pictures later.

Just for giggles...this is some what Andy has built. His GT-1 Camaro, and the twin 240's, the blue one is of course Collin's and the red was Dave Humphries. A third was built for a handicapped person, who retired from racing and the car is in storage as a spare.

The cars are now some 20+ years old I think, with both Dave and Collin winning many championships with them.

You see in one of the pictures the BLACK restrictor that Collin and Dave have to run, I believe it is 38MM, it was bigger but the Mazda guys kept whining when they could not catch the 240's. I think they had to throw some more weight in the car also. Hell...my car's secondary is bigger than that.

Andy is always aware of WEIGHT...and where it goes, nothing went on the cars that was not as light, but as strong as possible.

All the GT-1, GT-2 and GT-3 cars will have the same sort of chassis, each with it's constructors idea of how it should be done. Safety for driver is of course number 1, from a crash point of view, the where and how suspension is mounted, this will determine roll centers, bump steer..ALL THE STUFF . Keeping the CG low is paramount also and close to the center of the car.

I was asking Andy about Collins car. I think he said he built it in 1997 or 1998. That old and they are still dominating.

Hey Dan, Yah, I still get the bug occasionally, hard to put aside is it not, specially after 30 years of hard core competition.

Then.....I think about how much work it is......

Yes, I thought about 20 years, where has the time gone. We all had a bit of a hand working on those things.

Andy does follow one other Racing "discipline" out there, which I think makes a tremendous difference on his engine building...nuf' said.
