I'd like some of what he's smoking. On the other hand, if they're magnesium they may be rare, I'm not sure. There have been some of the 14x5.5's on ebay lately...

Well, niether set of those were genuine ARE wheels. ARE's all had a stiffening web in the center of the "petals", and I dont care
what that sellers excuse was, alll of the ones I have seen had there name cast into the back, and definately had the stiffener.
As for the magnesium wheels, I would think about $450/wheel is a fair price.

I read somewhere else that they changed factories or something...and the magnesium ones tended to break. I don't know how accurate that was though either.

All wheels have a life span. A local guy in another auto X club found out the hard way this past summer when one of his trick racing wheels completely failed, at high speed on a tarck day. The rim was 10 years old, and the center of the wheel broke totally away from the wheel and sent him into the wall causing a whole lot of damage. So I guess any wheel is eventually prone to failure, something to note for guys like myself running 70's wheels I guess. Maybe a NDT on the wheels is in order.
