l18 build

Post by ramseys21 »

i am starting an l18 build. my stock l16 is getting tired. i came across a block which came with pistons, connecting rods, an oil pan, timing cover. seemed like a good deal to me so i got it.
then i came across a W58 peanut head. seemed like it would work. so i would need some feedback there. also i would like some advice toward a camshaft and other parts. im not expecting it to rev to 9000rpm or anything. i would just like a good street engine.

here are some pics to start...

Dished pistons on an L18 is suboptimal unless you're planning to turbo it.

There's more L-series build information than you can shake a Sequoia at. Buy:

I have an L18 as a spare for my race car (L16 block  ), I wished I had found this link before I built it for the L18 flat tops.

If that is a .75mm oversize L20B piston you have a compression of 8.2 with p nut head. That's IF it's an L20B piston... do you know the dish volume???

.75mm is 0.02955" or just short of 30 thou. Best measure twice.

I see you have the coveted 'DATSUN 1600 OHC' valve cover... nice.
