Well this gives me time to get the R180 diff in the car, WCR's CV kit in the car and maybe even a ZX 5spd in the car...have to go talk to Andy about shortening a driveshaft for the 5spd conversion.

Hi Guys,
I just did 2 days of test & tune. But unfortunately the alternator packed it in on me at the end of today. Anyone happen to know a part number for an easy, bolt on internally regulated alternator? Is Lordco the place? I'm open to suggestions. I could also use the part number for a good replacement flasher unit, high beem switch and at some point I need to replace the wiper motor. Anyone know the best and easiest wiper motor swap? I've been reminded that the car is as old as I am!!

See...there was a silver lining to us cancelling...that thing could have packed it in in Princeton! I know that my Ford Aerostar's fuel injection stops working when the voltage gets down to 8.5 Volts....

Malcom, I had the 60amp 280zx one rebuilt at Bridgeport Electric last year for $90 and they where selling remanufactured 50am 200sx ones for $80. They also have a nice forklift one at 50amps for $140, it's about 1/3 smaller than the 280zx one and much lighter as well.

I think we should shoot for the Saturday, July 10th first. I can't beleive how cold it still is! I just turned my furnace on this morning, to take the chill off the house. I will be camping at 4,200 feet this weekend, and they talked about snow in some mountain areas..... :x I heard the term "Junuaray" used this morning, how apt.

I don't have the air care report in front of my right now but I can tell you that I was miles below the limit for the driving test. I was sitting in the passenger seat and it was reading pretty much bang on 14.7 for the whole run. The idle test was still marginal and I think it will continue to be until I get idle air control. The meter was reading around 14.7 for that test but I suspect that due to a slight throttle imbalance 2 cylinders were richer than the other 2. The car was really hot which certainly didn't help and I had a hard time keeping a consistant idle RPM for that instant right after coming to a stop. I think a lot of the problems remain in that bloody balance screw. I stronger return spring might help too. If it doesn't return to below 1% throttle then it was giving a rich idle. I can set a lean idle but it give running problems once in a while depending on where the throttle returns to and how hot it is. Since then I've had an ideas for an air care idle setting where it might lean the mix until the revs drop too low. Sort of a closed loop on idle RPM. But the real solution will be adding some bleeders to the manifold for electronic idle air control.

All that asside, I must say that the car runs pretty bloody awesome. I did a lot of driving around yesterday. It's now pretty fun to drive. I've got a fairly lean highway mix (which I can adjust on the fly if need be) and it still runs nice around town and pulling away from a light. I've been shooting for 14.7 under most conditions. With the exception of like a 16:1 cruise and a richer 13:1 or 12:1 full throttle. Even when I was hitting a lean 16:1 transition point when driving around town, it still seemed to drive nice. The only spot I still need a little improvement on is the highway zero throttle tip in and I know what shape I need to get the map in that area to fix it. I can fix it now but then I have a rich off throttle.

Driving:
HC = 68ppm (409 limit)
CO = 0.9% (4.76 limit)
NOx = 467ppm (4356 limit)

Idle:
HC = 791ppm (1052 limit)
CO = 1.52% (5.54 limit)

So Boys...make sure those cooling systems are working well, looks to be a hot one. Are we all on for this saturday? Long range looks to be in the high 20's here, so Princeton should be a bake oven, +30's predicted.

I just got back from one of my colder camping trips, wow was it cold up in Manning. I have been snowed on in August before, and was warmer than this weekend. Cold wind blew most of the time out in the open, and temps never got much past the mid teens . The temp got down into the mid 8's at night. Hope highway in good shape, saw no police, hardly any traffic for a long weekend. Had deer wander right past my campsite! Cool. Must have walked about 20 Km total, even got stimied by a flooded trail, and had to retrace our steps back to base.
