SWAP ALERT! Jason's JDM truck for Cam's '69 KA 510

Last weekend I helped out Jason shuffle some cars around his place to make room for the new resident - a slammed 1969 4dr. 510 with a non-running KA24DE. Of course its freezing out and everything is stuck or seized. The Subaru Kei truck, that Cam was getting, needed a jump and the throttle cable was frozen. But we did get it going and I drove it out of the backyard on the high idle. Jason and I then went out to Cam's parents place to meet up with Kris the tow truck dude. Poor Cam was suffering from a migraine headache at the time and was pretty bummed cuz he was loosing his first car. Cam's parents, on the other hand, were delighted! The 510 was only supposed to be parked in the garage for two months - but it turned into 8 years!! Kris dragged it up the deck, tied it all down and we were off to Jason's. Once there, the 510 was kicked off and the tiny truck was loaded up for Cam. Big thanks goes to Kris from English Bay Towing - another excellent job by the 510 hauler. Everybody happy!

Well, not that many Mike! I call the place "Datsunland North" now Chris! Many thanks to James for helping me out that day and Kris for moving it over for me too! I've never seen anyone so happy as Mr and Mrs C when they realized the 510 was actually leaving! Poor Cam ...

Here's what I traded Cam for the 510. Works for me, I'm not really into p/u's!

You know Jason - that photo misrepresents the size of that truck. I'd say I'm a bit over average for a N/A guy at 6' and 250 lbs, but I tried to sit in that damn thing, and there was no physical way for me to get my knees BEHIND the dash! I could not physically work the pedals with the door closed. Good thing both you and Cam are small guys.
I remember a very young Cam driving that blue 69 around with me (and a couple other Datsuns) one night - just mindlessly cruising around Vancouver - and you know Cam, that was the last time I ever did mindlessly drive around Vancouver which is why I remember the night! Jason it's good to hear that you plan to get that car going again; it deserves to be once again driven. And Cam has another RHD truck, mmmmmm. Maybe it was a good swap; at least there'll be another local 510 on the road next year as well. Cam, you still have one more in the wings, right? This is a good thing.

I remember you trying out the driver's seat of that truck Byron, you kinda looked like a big sardine! At a generous 5'4" and 125lbs I fit these things just fine!

The '69 seems to be my favourite model year, it's got a lower dash that I can see over! Funny thing is it's now booked into Big Time Motors for some necessary metal work up front before anything else happens. I can hardly wait to try this one out, I'll get on the suspension this weekend, I've got some nice, soft springs for it, hope they raise the car back up some!

The night of mindless driving was the last night this car ever saw the road.. the 1600 gave up the ghost on the way home with mark in the pass seat.

ya I still have my wagon.... down to 1 510. glad jason is going to fix it.. I don;t think he would have the liked the wrath he would have to endure if the car got parted..
