Who's yer 510 Sugar Daddy?

Post by yenpit »

Didn't know if you guys had ever seen an original 1973 order form for the Sugar Daddy 510. I was digging thru a box of stuff from when I was a kid, and couldn't believe it when I found it! I don't remember ever having a desire for a 510 until I got a ride in a mod'd car around 1980. Go figure!!

Still can't figure out how to embiggen some attachments.

But awesome all the same. I'm sure it was only a dollar or two, right? Haven't they gone for upwards of $3,000 on eBay, back before everyone was broke?

Really nice examples seemed to be in the $600.00 range.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to scan it again, to try to make it bigger. It was $2.50 + two wrappers. If you look closely at the other picture, you'll also see the BRE car, along with a Baja Bronco, a Can Am car, a Porsche 917 and a Penske Javelin. Way cool.

Anybody have any ideas on how to make a saved jpeg PC file bigger?

At 10K bytes in size, it probably won't get any bigger without loss of clarity. If it is that small in real life (which seems silly now that I've typed it since you'd have to fill in that tiny form with a ladybug's pen), scanning at 300dpi then enlarging the .JPG by 300% will do it.

Funny , I had all the cars mentioned, excpt the Sugar Daddy car as a kid, they were all hand me downs from my older bothers. I still smell the oil and electric motors heating up. Trying to fix all the dead track, using a eraser to clean all the metal contacts on the cars and track. Oh what fun it was to grow up back then. Now I get pissed because my kid has so much homework, he rarely has time to learn anything other than books, and when he does have some time...it's xbox...aka retardbox.

HUH??? I have a brand new, never used 240z in BRE colours in the Bert Vorgon treasure chest. Did that come from that set, or, was it another of the slot car series? I must drag that out and take a look!

Nope. I never owned one. Had a chance to buy one last year for $300 but I have no desire to own it.

Yeap, I tried to get one that went for over 1200 I think it was....it wasn't for me, it was for my japanese friend that is a huge slot collector, he finally did get one that was about 800 I think....can't remember....I am missing two of the 510's from my slot collection, this one and the red #35 car, they are rare too, there are more color combination's of the AFX datsun 510 than you think....you'd be surprised....I don't think there is a really rare 240 slot, maybe the green with white stripes, that Sugar Daddy car was in two shades of green, both highly sought after.....and really expensive.

Is that your collection Rich? Nice! Funny, I had lots of AFX stuff as a kid, but I don't think I have a single car (or track) saved. I do have most of my Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Corgi and many of my built plastic car models, but no AFX. Here are a few more digital pics.............

I also found a box of Whacky Pack stickers, which I still love today! The caricature "style" of Ed Roth (I don't know who did the Whacky Packs......??) is simply killer! Of course, this one really caught my eye..........

yea, I have been collecting them for a little while since being back over here in Japan, I have some in storage in the states from earlier in life, but not this many..... My friend here got me hooked on it, but I have since slowed down, it gets really expensive fast. I have a lot of Datsun/Nissan, some not pictured because they are buried in my garage, I have some of the GT cars too, some are really hard to find, and when you find them, they are expensive. most of mine are new in the japanese box, I took some of the out to take the pics..... I recently bought some display cases, but won't put them up here in this house because we will relocate back to Washington soon. Probably dry wall my garage and hang them out there, kind of make my garage a little nicer than before....
