Finished installing the radiator and then worked on the exhaust, got that all hooked up and welded to the stock exhaust pipe, even blasted and painted the manifold too...

The more I look at the crappy engine bay, the more I want to paint it, but I keep telling myself this is just a low budget swap and go.....

The relay on the left side fender is just like the horn relay on the Land Cruiser. Looks like the brake master is going to need some work.

...Oh, there's a lot more than just the brake master that needs some work!! I'll probably just get a new one, they are not that expensive. that is if I have brake problems! this is low budget remember!

yea! It was really nice meeting you the other day! I had hoped to work on it last night but was busy with house stuff so no progress on the wiring, I should be able to get to it tonight. I want this thing on the road.

Tonight a friend came over and blasted some BMW head covers, so I figured it was a good time to blast the Yota cover and get it ready to powder coat. I shaved all the edge flashing off and really cleaned it up, also cut down a tall mounting bung on the back corner. I plan on using some wrinkle black powder.

Are you doing the power coat yourself ? I am thinking about getting a set up, but I don't know how much I would use it and how good of job can be done at home compared to a pro shop.

yes, I will do it at home. I have had excellent results in the past on the coupe. I have a little Craftsman powder coat gun, it doesn't hold much powder but it seems to work ok. The key to a good end result is in the prep work, it has to be super clean, I blast, cook, wipe with acetone, cook again, then apply the powder to a hot piece then cook for 20 min. less cook time and lower temp for clear. I did the SR head cover and diff cover on the coupe and a bunch of the small brackets and junk....out of everything I only had one thing that came out terrible, but that's because I didn't get all the plating off...

From my coupe build thread, Platinum color powder with low temp clear powder over the platinum. I thought it was very nice for the first bigger piece.

That came out great! I am going to look into a powder coat setup now. Where do you get your powder from?
