Effin' wheels. Finding the wheels that you want so you can get your 510 rolling, after as long as mine has been sitting, is a freakin' NIGHTMARE!

What front suspension are you running? How low are you dropping the car (preferably ground to bottom of the rocker F&R)? What sort of wheel size are you looking at?

I've added my calculated offsets to the images above, I assume they're right. I'm thinking either a 15 or 16-inch wheel, but a 16-inch wheel may be a little sport with a drop. Right now, I'm shooting for a 3-inch drop but won't know exactly what I have until I get some wheels.

In the front, I'm using Kamododragon's custom coilover set-up (S13 coilovers grafted onto 200SX V6 struts, Z31 4-lug hubs and Z31 brakes). Also running AZCARBUM's custom LCA's and TC Rods.

I'm thinking I could pull in the track a little if I could source thinner jam nuts for the LCA's, and it looks like I have about a 1/2-inch of adjustment left at the camber plates to pull that in.

My measurements were done without an alignment, I just eyeballed everything straight which probably wasn't very good at all. With the Z31 brakes the stock steelies won't fit so I can't roll this sucker to an alignment shop.

Your front suspension solution is pretty rare, so I don't know what data will be out there for what will fit. Certainly people can point you to 6" +25 rims, but that probably isn't the question.

Just wondering if you guys think my calculations are right.

One thing I do need to know is what the inner diameter of 15" Rota RB's is. I need to make sure they clear the calipers.

I certainly have a different set-up and I'm not looking to flare or roll fenders at this point. The only other thing I can think of is having the wheels poke out and adjusting ride height accordingly, but I'm not sure I want to do that just yet.

Without fellow 510ers in the are to test wheels out I may bite the bullet and get some 15x6's with +25 offset. I'm pretty certain they would fit, probably by a hair. I could probably fit 15x7's with +38 offset but they barely have any dish and aren't as attractive in my opinion.

And because I'm biting the bullet and taking a risk, I think 16's would be too risky.

Nice coils. I like where this is going!

You may want to look into getting some 26mm z32 calipers to round off that sweet front end.

Just a heads up on the s12v6 struts... They are designed for a higher offset wheel (+35 ish) so getting dished wheels on there will fit poorly (fender interference) and drive poorly due to the scrub radius problems. If you wanted balla dish, zx would be the way to go. Given that, I'd recommend the 15x7+38. You can always space em out if need be. Adjustable everything makes it fun and easy to fit stuff.

Good luck. :)

So is this true? I don't have to "bench bleed" a new 280ZX MC? I have a new 280ZX MC installed, I bled all four corners and all have fluid flowing out just fine but I still don't have proper brake pressure. All I can think is that I need to bench bleed the MC. This MC does have the two bleeder valves on the side, so what SLODAT suggests makes sense.
slodat wrote:Datsun master cylinders do not need to be "bench bled" this is something from GM and other cars. Datsun MC's have bleeder valves on the MC. You simply route a small piece of plastic tubing from the bleeder back into the MC reservoir and pump the pedal.

Always seemed to mean essentially the same thing to me. You "bench bleed" it, or your bleed it on the car. Easier to do it with a Datsun BMC since it has the bleed screws...but in the end you'll still want to bleed the BMC, off or on the car.

So, I've been jacking around with the brakes for a few weeks now. I can't get the system to tighten up. If I pump 10-20 times I can get some pressure, but the brake pedal is spongy and the pressure won't hold.

I've bled all four corners all sorts of different ways, finally using the method described in the book "How to Keep Your Datsun Alive".

I tried bench bleeding the master cylinder but that was stupid because I didn't have plugs for the output valves. So, I bled the MC on the car and everything looked good, solid stream of fluid, no bubbles.

But, I still can't build up pressure. I'm thinking the MC that I have is bad. It's an NOS 280ZX MC, but I have read in the forums that the seals in the NOS MC's could be bad. Maybe that's what I'm dealing with here.

Anyone have any suggestions?
