I am having a dickens of a time trying to find strut inserts and shocks for this thing. does anyone here have a suggestion on where to get something other than the KYB accel-g/gr2 I'd really like to be able to handle stiffer springs.

Another idea rolling around in my head is a diesel swap. This car will never handle like the pl510's and I don't race anymore so this might be an interesting fuel sipping swap. Plus the engine under consideration (LD20 2 turbo diesel) makes more torque than the z22s currently in the car (123lb/ft vs 115lb/ft) and similar power (88hp for the z22s 78 hp for the ld20t). All of this is at stock boost/fuel levels more of both would naturally result in more power/torque.

As to the struts, the long PL510 strut (16.8") is ~.5" shorter than the HL510 strut (17.375"), so if you could find some long PL510 struts and an appropriate spacer, you're in. ZX stuff (stiffer spring stuff) is 15" and would require shortening your strut tubes.

As far as the struts are concerned I think I will either change to thicker oil or find a set of 810 struts.

If you have the original struts in your car and can change out the oil, that'd probably be optimal.
Strut insert options for the 810 would be the same as the medium-length PL510 strut, but 510 inserts aren't terribly available anymore. ZX strut swap gets you vented discs as well.

If you change out the oil, make sure you use MOTORCYCLE fork oil...I would recommend 30W, I used to use BELRAY FORK OIL.

Just be careful of the rubber "O" ring at the top of the fork. Just wiggle the shock tube a hair, up and down, then carefully use a small screw driver to peel out the O ring, DO NOT NICK IT!
This actually works reasonably well, as it retains the factory bump/rebound, just firms it up due to the viscosity increase.
