Red Mountain base hike
Just throwing this out here, last minute I know,
anybody want to join Matt and I for a quick day hike to the base of Red Mountain on Sunday?
It's maybe 2 hours in, lunch/snack, 1.5 back. It's off the Chilliwack Lake road.
It will be spectacular mountain snow scenery if it is clear like the weatherman says.
no need for 4 wheel drive, just a good gravel road for about 10 Km to park.
Minimal elevation gain for the hike.

Re: Red Mountain base hike
Ok, Matt and I are thinking of a nice spring tune up walk to the base of Red Mountain again, next Sunday, March 15th.
Again, this is not a strenuous hike at all. It follows Slesse Creek, then we just go up to the land slide area, build a fire, cook some smokies, hang out for a bit, then back.
Weather of course will be key. Times to be confirmed as we get closer. We usually try to start at the trail head by 9:00.
Be nice to have a small group out.

Extremely jealous, I'd love to be in B.C right now. Looks stunning.

Bert,
This proposed day is the day after moving day for me - not a chance. And considering what on my plate in the near future...I feel I will be living though this coming years events vicariously. New home - many projects - no time. Gotta do whatcha gotta do.
I'll look forward to joining you again next year, but for now I'll look forward to the photos and the write up.

Re: Red Mountain base hike
No worries Byron, I scratched you off the list a while ago. I can only imagine the amount of work ahead of you this year.
Betty and I keep saying we need to get RID OF STUFF, so that when we have to move, there's minimal goods to pack. My wife and I are readers and I don't think we have ever gotten rid of a book in the 39 years we have been in this house....YIKES!!!!
I'm working on my vintage gas powered mini bike, to get that out of my basement. James has helped me with the motor, but, next week I'm dropping it off to the BRIGGS guy, to see if he can get it going. I last rebuilt it in the 80's for my kids to use.

Re: Red Mountain base hike
We have a scout camp wrapping up Sunday morning, so knowing your not one to get away late I doubt we can make it. I can't imagine booting around white rock on a mini bike these days... Mike and his son are building one right now btw.

Re: Red Mountain base hike
I would think that if we are at the trail head by 9:00, most of us should be leaving home by 7'ish.
as it says above, it is a couple of hours for the walk in, fart around, have lunch, then back to the vehicles by early afternoon and home by.......4'ish. It all just depends on how much time we want to spend out there. Weather looks iffy for saturday, not looked at Sunday yet, and it is too soon to tell anyhow.

Re: Red Mountain base hike
Bit of a conflict cropped up, so we are putting this off till Sunday March 22/15.
Weather looks to be turning for the weekend anyhow.

Re: Red Mountain base hike
Putting off hike till we get a really sunny day, might as well have a good view of the glacier's.
Bush would be really wet after yesterdays torrential rains any how.
