Congrats. That's some nice work!

The long rod lives! Got my gear reduction starter in and the engine fired right up. The exhaust I had built for the l16 didn't exactly fit so had to do some serious massaging to at least let me take it to a local meet at Tim Horton's without deafening the neighborhood. Initial thoughts, this things got some power! Timing is slightly off and need to fine tune the carbs but am very happy so far!

Must have the Datsun gods looking after me or just some incredible luck. Looking at the local classifieds just for fun when I noticed that on an add for a real nice 66 Chevy Truck the guy mentioned he also had a Datsun pickup. No further info and one old picture of a 620. If you know atlantic canada let alone Prince Edward Island seeing any kind of Datsun is incredibly rare especially on the island (I was the only one up until this year) so I got ahold of them and went out. Was expecting to see a pretty rough truck but wanted to be sure, turns out the guy has a bone stock 1974 620 with an l18 and 4 speed with next to no rust, there's a few pinholes in one fender and a few pinholes in the box. He used it to haul around wood and put around now and again but hadn't been registered or inspected since 1981 so wasn't exposed to the salty roads here. Asking price? Try $1300! Only downside is since it hasn't been on the road since 81 the official registration is long gone, going to call up the dmv Tuesday after Thanksgiving to get them to run the Vin and make sure I can actually register it, then take it home next weekend, very excited to finally have my truck! (Hopefully) haha

That's a nice find!

I've been watching out for one. I'd love to have it with a KA24E/DE, full EFI, auto - nice chilling ride for hauling bikes around.

While I'm not really into 'stance', a slammed Datsun pickup would be pretty cool...

Thanks! Was pretty surprised to find one here let alone in this condition.

Called the dmv today and had a bit of a fight with the one from the city, they informed me that I couldn't buy a vehicle without papers and that the previous owner had to come in with proof of ownership and get registration in his name. When I told them that there was no papers (for the 100th time) they go "well just get him to bring in a picture" and got mad when I asked what the difference in him and myself bringing in a picture since it hasn't been registered since the 80s here and a picture doesn't prove anything.

Eventually gave up and called another location in the country, their response? Trace the Vin, bring a picture and we'll get you on your way. Happy that's out of the way now!

Got the 620 home! Has a few small holes in the bed but other than that this thing is pretty mint. Also upon looking at some of the paperwork that came with the truck it only has ~50,000 miles on it! No wonder the interior is so clean.

Waiting for the flatbed to pick it up, truck runs and drives but the tires were very cracked and not safe to drive on.

Finally got back home for the first time in 2 months to get the rigs ready for winter. Found one of my front drums is out of round on the 620 so I'll eventually be swapping them for discs. Also thought about what I'm doing motor wise for the 620 and I'm really leaning towards a big turbo sr20, will take more work then putting it in the 510 but everyone has sr 510s and the truck should handle the power better being full frame.

Flipping through the new Roadkill magazine (by David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod) when I come across this

Sent off some pictures months ago and kind of forgot about it. Had to run back to the superstore to buy another copy haha.

In other news sold my weber 40s and bought a set of 45s, hoping they'll work nicer on the long rod!

Got my 45s in the mail today so went about putting them on the manifold and test fitting on the motor. Also found a Nissan comp header so can't wait for that to get here! Going to hook up a throttle cable to these webers instead if using the bar linkage.

Finally got around to getting my header installed, Primed/painted then wrapped. Nowhere local does ceramic coating and with me leaving to ontario for work in a few weeks decided to go this route so the car will be driveable while I'm gone incase dad needs to move it in/out of the garage.

Spent a good 30 minutes turning it every way possible trying to make it fit without dropping the centerlink but eventually had to go that route. Of course it didn't want to budge so after spending awhile beating on it I eventually went out and bought a tierod end wedge kit and had the 2 joints off in 5 minutes. A lot can be said for having the right tool lol.

Tomorrow morning I'll go about putting the 45s on and then I'll be waiting for my valve cover gasket, throttle cable and bottom linkage that I ordered to arrive.

Well went to throw on my 45s this morning and find that my runners on my manifold aren't long enough. The flange where it bolts to the carb rests right on the header and leaves about an inch gap between the manifold and the block. Guess I need to look for a long runner manifold to clear it. Hooked up my edelbrock intake and holley carb for now just to have something on there.

Looks good, but, you need to lose the bungee cords on the battery. I have seen way to many electrical fires when the battery hits the hood and ZAPPO.

They're definitely getting replaced for a real hold down, just something I haven't gotten to yet haha
