Great! Let me know how those new brakes work.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

That's funny....bertvorgon wrote:This is good, I have made copies of Idoxlr8 licence plates, which I will afix to Norms car, which is not in that many pieces, for the Sunday run. This way I can burn up Norms tires, and Dean will get to re-live the drive when the speeding ticket comes.

Re: Pre-Spring Thaw Shakedown drive - April 10th North Vancouver
It's hard to imagine that it is so cold and snowy back east, as I wandered about White Rock yesterday in T-shirt and shorts. It looks to be about 20c on Sunday in Pemberton.
My car fired right up yesterday, only took a few cranks. I always cycle all the relays and signals, just to make sure everything works after sitting for six months. I pulled out my Garmin GPS and updated it online last night, ready to put it into the car for it's speedo. Not that we will be going fast but, the "Boys" love to watch a few spots on the Sea-to-Sky, where the speed drops stupidly low.
WOW...I just got a phone call from my son in law...I'm a GRANDPA!!!! My daughter has had a baby girl!

Oh GREAT...I have a full-on SWAT team in front of my house right now demanding that "RICHARD" is under arrest and come out with your hand up...YIKES... This could be a long night. These guys are armed to the teeth and I have heard a couple of flash-bangs already.

Congrats on the privilege of achieving the " grand" status to you and Betty!
I drove though most of Surrey on Friday looking at a few job sites we have/ are bidding on, most cops I have ever seen in one day...they were done messing around.

Morning World,
So, the SWAT team left at 8:00..."RICHARD" got a big bite from the RCMP dog, and White Rock had it's most excitement for some time. Not sure what happened, it was a weapon related issue, Matt put his reporter hat on and was going to call the RCMP media person.
Saw my grand daughter at 5:00....what can you say.....did bring a tear to my eye as it was like holding my daughter 33 years ago!
Day looks to be good, still dark, having coffee, will head into plant at my usual 6:00 am start, should only take me an hour to get things ready to roll. Looks to be close to 20C by the time we get there, should be some fantastic photo ops in the spring light. I will try to take lots of pics.

Re: Pre-Spring Thaw Shakedown drive - April 10th North Vancouver
I will only say this about that.
Just because you can afford to buy a McLaren, Porsche, or Japanamantion sport bike with the accompanying Speed racer leathers, does NOT mean you know how to drive at the limit. No wonder the high end body shops are fixing these things all the time. Heh, Heh.
What a great day, perfect driving temp, my intake air temp never got above 70’ish F.. I arrived at the Starbucks lot at about 7:45, with a few vintage cars already there, and then a steady stream after that. The pictures will show the eclectic mix that showed up.
Nice to see both Paul’s there, with the BMW 2002 and the Gordini.
There was a token drivers meeting, where the obvious was stated about the RCMP watching the highway like crazy, and that this drive UP was under his business per se, please drive responsibly.
While we were there a few of the high end cars showed up, to do their own thing for the day, a McLaren, a few Porsches and some sport bikes, all in the same group. Quite funny as I really did not see anyone go look at their cars, it was the other way around.
I made the mistake of following a few guys out the lot first, not paying attention to the GPS. We ended up doing a convoluted drive down the West Marine, then out to Horseshoe Bay, then onto the highway. This took about 15 minutes. The drive was ok, but, Richard in the 280 ended up ahead of me, and a long ways to boot. I phoned him from the Chevron in Squamish, expecting him to be coming along, and here he at daisy Lake already. I decided to leave right away and get ahead of most of the cars, so I had a GOOD drive by myself, finally catching up to a yellow Nissan Stagea wagon. Of course I had to be responsible, but, let’s just say that I passed him at one point.
Traffic was actually very good all things considered and after Whistler a couple of us just cruised along, a Turbo-charged Mini Cooper and the Stagea again, as I let him pass. It’s easier driving fast to NOT have to watch your mirror.
In no time at all, we were at the lunch stop in Pemberton, a glorious sunny day, with the town ringed in snow capped mountains.
Richard, Don West and I had a great lunch together, food there is really good!
When we came out.....there was NO ONE around, seems everybody disappeared, and on the way back, I never saw any of the cars...WEIRD. I like our drives BETTER!
Richard and I decided to stop at the Tantalus view point for some pictures on the way back. Richard was going to stop at the Shannon Falls for a bit of a walk and I elected to just cruise back, as I wanted to be home by 3 or so. On the way back I only saw one speed trap, he was shooting people in the back north bound, as drivers would sweep around a corner.
The whole time my car ran just flawlessly, other than a bit of a high speed, full boost miss, due to the fact that the plugs were old and I just did not want to waste a good set of plugs on such a cruise. Now, onto the fuel gauge. I’m not sure if I am happy with it or not. It hit the EMPTY mark on the Sea to Sky, around Lions Bay and I made it back to the plant no problem. So, the question is, how much fuel is was left when it hit the empty mark? In theory, on this drive, I put about 216 miles on the car, with traffic lights thrown in for good measure. Assuming I got 23 MPG, I burned up about 9.4 gallons of fuel, so there should not be much left in the tank. I will pump that out and see what is left and roughly calculate what I burned up when I was on the Sea to Sky, when It hit empty. When the tank was full to the brim, the gauge read one line after the ¾ mark, so that is ok. As the fuel went down, the gauge was pretty stable, until it really got low, at least as the gauge registered. And what it did show was the float moving fore and aft on hills! Makes sense, going uphill it reads low and down reads high. So, it is active as the fuel moves around. If the gauge is calibrated to be 90 OHMS on empty, BUT, there was still 4 gallons or so left, does that mean that the float angle is slightly off? I have that spare sender and I might just do an angle test and see. Is it a big deal..I dunno, I would have liked to know that when it was CLOSE to empty, I maybe have two gallons left or so. Maybe after a few trips I can rely on when it hits an indicated EMPTY line, I have “X” gallons left.
I will try to not lose sleep over it...Ha.
I was back home by 3:30, right on schedule, I had a great day, first drive of the season was good, nice to feel that stupendous G-force build on the corners, and watch those behind you slow down......
Pictures to follow later today.
