Here are some not so good pics of my father's E9 exhaust system, once finished at the same exhaust shop I have sent my car too.

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build
Back from my trip overseas, I've been flat out since my return. Had some house renovations to finish off and work has gotten busy, which isn't a bad thing. The exhaust and piping work was completed when I was away, very happy with the workmanship.

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build
Sooooo, I've been watching a four door 510/1600 change hands over here for the last 6-8 months. It had been handed around like a $2 hooker and each time the car would change a little for the better or worse I'm not sure. I was interested in buying it but I never got the opportunity as it changed hands too quickly. WELL it came up again and I didn't waste any time. I paid the "drug money' asking price and took it home later that day. In my opinion its the BEST original Datsun colour - Honey Brown.

She rough and needs a far bit of work, just general maintenance being the biggest thing at the moment. Here's two photos when I arrived home the first time with the car. Yep check out where the steering wheel is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice score! But don't fall into the project dilution trap. I could tell you some stories. Right now I've got.........
Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build
Copy that, The Bronze needs upgrades, Ole Blue needs maintenance, and the Greg Terry Restoration needs a fire lit under me......2DoorJim wrote:Nice score! But don't fall into the project dilution trap. I could tell you some stories. Right now I've got.........
Then the garage needs to be wired and insulated, the deck needs recovering, the house needs carpet and paint.. and the kids need.....
Nice score on the car BTW, looks great. As does the exhaust work on the current project. Definitely photo worthy for sure.

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build
So after a very long delay I'm back updating my project thread. So in the weeks I have been away my wife and I have had a new addition to the family - a baby boy. Was due on the 5th of January came on the 23rd of December. Much the same as our first child, she came roughly 10 days early too. Mum and baby are doing well!
As for the car, well before Christmas both the break lines and fuel lines were completed. Most of mechanical mock up was also completed as well. As soon as all that was achieved everything was pulled out of the car on order to start final preparation for painting.
And Yes dropping the motor out was so easy. It will go back in the same way to avoid any damage

Re: USA to Western Australia my two door 510 build
As you can see from the fire wall there is lots of dollying up to be done. The primer on the car at the mount is just something to keep the metal from rusting effectively it will all come off, then body filler applied and later primed.

Started with the underside of the car, rubbed and coated in proof coat.
