Dream build | 71 4dr SR20VE ITB's work in progress

Post by macgyver »

Hello realm! I know most of you know of my ride.
But for those who don't, I made a little video of her. Loads of progress from the years with the previous few owners who got her to a great point and now I'm happy to be the new owner to finish her up.

This is my 2nd dime, my first one was in the middle of a sr swap but it didn't pan out as I would've liked. Regretted selling her ever since.

Than this one popped up for sale here on the east coast and couldn't resist!
Hope you enjoy the video

Cool video, and not just because you made it 5:10 long.

and also, you've been around here for years too, so there's that too.

I'll just be quiet now.

Welcome! Almost bought this car when it was in Cali years ago. Glad to see it's in good hands now. Don't think I'm ever going to go away from L-series motors in my 510 BUT if it was this would be the motor combination I would use. Reliable N/A FI power...
Carpe Diem!

It's just hard to do at this stage of life with my young kids and wife working too. We have a packed schedule pretty much all the time.

Well I can certainly understand that. Leaving the wife and kids alone for the good part of 2 weeks could be tough not to mention the cost of the trip.

Really nice honest dime you have there.

thanks guys,
I'm Thinking of maybe doing an exposed oil cooler with the nice braided hoses? I have a wider pair of Xr-4's for the rear, just need tires since the 195's rubbed the inner lip on the rear door sill. Just I'm not sure if the xr-4's have that wow factor I'm after unless I powdercoat or somehow make them different then the rest I've seen.
I am going to lower the rear a touch more now that the cv conversion is done. Had really bad vibrations with the stock set-up/u-joints half shafts when I really lowered it over the summer. Just want enough to level her out.

I'm trying to make it "my own"/ step it up a level for the previous owners. Is there enough "wow" factor left or if it's just wearing off since she's been around a few years? I can tell you the local people here in New York absolutely love it when I pull into the cruise nights/car shows. You don't see any around here, maybe 2-3 I've heard off and one was my old 2 door(still in pieces)
