Thank you Mike, I will test the tranny this evening using the method you listed. Mike or anyone else do you have any thoughts on the other questions I asked two posts above?

Try to get a shifter kit also, as having a steel/bronze bushing in the pivot and a NEW plastic end piece really does make a difference in shifting precision.

2/ That style will work.
3/ I cut the cable and slid the screw on collar part off. Then filled the opening with urethane or RTV to plug the hole left by the cable, then screwed it back on after it set.
4/ I also got the Dodge hinge repair kit and it was a c hair to large. I made one pass through one side with a hack saw and closed up the gap. Polished up the inside with a round chain saw file to help with the pin fit. Here you can see the slice closed up...
5/the reverse lamp switch is about half way up the passengers side of the transmission directly behind the clutch arm dust boot.

I relief cut the hinge bushings like you suggested Mike and they worked like a charm.
