Byron, I used the Ford V6 Viton seals on my smoking 72 L16 and afterwards no smoke whatsoever. They are shorter overall so for a high lift cam they are great. I believe the # is SS 72686 Fel Pro. I used a box end wrench (1/2"?) to tamp them down on their seats with the cam in the head.
I've been driving 70's Datsun sedans, wagons, and roadsters almost every day since 1983!

The revival of his thtread is ok, as I still have not completed this task! House, kids - still building the garage when I get a chance.
The job does need to be done, the varnish isn't fair to anyone following me on decell.

Andy replaced mine last year after the 580 lift cam destroyed the first set. I think he put in KA seals which were a couple of mil shorter. The seals were only $8 for the set from Andy if I remember right.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

I'm running the shadbolt 445 grind, so nothing dramatic for lift.
