Brake Pad Compounds

In a fit of optimism that I might get my car to run this year, I'm wondering what brake pad brands/ compounds are being used out there, It's been about 16 years since I last had to buy a set and I can't find a recent post on the topic.

I've got stock calipers but with NISMO drilled rotors (running 13" wheels). I was using Green Stuff pads which have a bit of life on them, but looking to wear them down soon enough.

Installing on a street car with canyons and a very occasional track day in it's future.

Any suggestions? Yellow Stuff?

Well heck, I checked out the EBC catalog and I'm not seeing 510 as an option anymore, only Z...

Second on the Porterfield R4s pads. Ran them for a long time. Good cold bite and seemed to withstand a good amount of heat without fading.

For you guys running the R4-S on 280zx front brakes... Are you running shims? Mine didn't come with any for the fronts...

Shims? Like between the piston and the pads? I never ran any, and I don't know why the would be necessary.

Sounds good just thought it would keep the noise down if anything.. Are you running a pad retainer clip as well? Can't seem to find the correct one for 280zx front brakes. These are the ones it keeps calling for but don't they are the right ones... This is what I got...

Wow..as I opened up another box today...I found sets of DS11 race pads...anybody remember those?

Yep... ran them on my Datsun 1200 and 240Z at Westwood. Were great on the 240Z. Could out brake Porsche 911's ( which they did not like at all ) .

The 1200 could brake with Formula Fords!!! So deep it was scary!!!
