Morning Gang,
I plan to be at the theater by 6:10, I don't want to take a chance with finding parking. I guess we just all meet there, we are all coming from so many different areas. Looking forward to it!
I'm off to Specialty this morning to change diff and trans oil and wash the Knox trip bugs off.

Re: moar good videos :P
I really enjoyed THE GREEN HELL, the history was amazing to say the least and the archival video was just too cool. It traces the roots and beginning of the "ring" in 1925 all the way up to the present.
For me, the Formula 1 years from 1970 to 1980 brought back memories, as that is when I got interested in racing and then my own, so I followed the Jackie Stewart years, mainly through Road & Track magazine.
"You sort out the men from the boys in the wet; it's still true today," Stewart says. "This race at the Nürburgring is a good example. You can't make any mistakes at all when it's wet!"
As we raced in the rain at our Solo events, no matter what, SMOOTH is the key and Jackie embodied that. He destroyed the competition in the 1968 Gran Prix there.
Try to catch it if you can, you will not be disappointed.

My buddy Mark took in the Canadian National Rally Championship - Rocky Mountain Rally - west of Calgary last weekend and caught this;
A Datsun 1200, with what appears to be Ford Escort rally flares. Additionally the rear suspension was also a Ford Escort rear axle and 4 link set up on coil overs. But get this - powered by an FJ20! Foo Yeah!!

Some of you may find this funny, especially if you have been involved with the mountain bike industry (ROB!) and mountain biking, as the industry tried to sell us something new.

I started in 1991 and followed some of the trends up I’m ashamed to say, yet at the same time realized the crap going on. Purple anodized bar ends, the reality was in B.C., they hooked on EVERYTHING in the dense bush type trails we road on. I’m sure in the desert of California, non issue. They hit my junk pile. It was not hard to get caught up in the weight war, buying the top of the line SHIMANO XTR rear shifter, only to rip it asunder on another brutal trail. Back to the lower end Groupo. Light weight wheels and tires, again, did not suffer the real trails of B.C.. We fought tires for years, finally getting one that did not suffer pinch flats. There are no trees and roots in California.
Ultimately we built bikes that were tough, not stupidly light and survived years of winter riding, roots, rocks and drops. If we wanted to save some weight, and I can remember riding with some how they would talk about their latest 20 Gram weight saving, I would just pipe up that I had a good dump in the morning, likely got rid of 500 GMS!!!
I went from 7 SPD to 8 SPD, then to 9 SPD. Crap, when the 9 SPD came out, in basically the same space as before, the chain was of course smaller. We broke those damn things like crazy, until they came out with better ones. Holy crud, we are miles back into the bush and had to fix chains. WE did very quickly carry the complete chain repair kit. One of our regular riders was a big guy and he would just explode the things. As we did such long rides and really out there, any weight saving was made up by the spare and repair stuff we carried. Matt and I made sure we BOTH used the same stuff.
I put the hype behind me and just built a reliable, tough bike, which at this point has done me 12 years of some heavy duty riding and other than wearing out power trains, has been bullet proof.
