1970 Datsun 510 2Dr RACER For Sale!

Post by rickyg75 »

Hello!

I bought this '70 Datsun 510 2Dr Race Car in 2001 and have kept it since. Have not raced it since so it's been sitting in a dry warehouse till 2012 then to my home garage where I have it together with LOTS of Spares. Car is prepped to be very competitive in Improved Touring Class and Vintage Racing. Great car to start Club or Vintage Racing in and can be upgraded to higher classes with bigger motor.

Here's the down and dirty of it: Well sorted out and prepped by the best in the West Coast(Rebello, Stacey, Carter). A very original 510 equipped with premium pro-race components. Car starts and runs great (see video link: https://youtu.be/H2hSwgcIWYg) but brakes will need bleeding. Will need new Race Tires. That’s it. A few sorting out and this will be race ready in a day or so. Car comes with Spares TOO MANY to list.

History: Bought in July, 2001 from California. NEVER RACED SINCE. ALWAYS GARAGED. Was raced 4 seasons since built in 2001. 2 Season class championships in SCCA, a second place in season points. and a year of endurance racing, resulting in a win at the Timex 12 hours of Thunder Hill. Multiple class wins. Was used for Car Shows since.

CAR: All Pro, no money spared in building, maintaining, or racing. Built by Carter chassis works, Stacey Suspension Systems, and Rebello Racing Engines- The three top names on the West Coast. This car is SCCA ITC and endurance legal, NASA PS# and END3 legal, SCAMP Vintage legal. Complete driver info system including all Auto Meter instruments, Serena Industries Model 615 HOT LOP In-Car timing module, and remote official track sending unit for tracks equipped with hot wire timing.

Features in Detail: Car is set up for ITC racing in SCCA. The car has two engines, one is a new spare long block that hasn‘t been fired up. Both motors are virtually the same, except the motor in the car has a factory TK head. ITC requires basically a "stock" L16 short block. Both motors have factory hard parts (pistons, crank, rods, bore, stroke, and block) Rebello Racing built BOTH motors to ITC spec.

- Aluminum 3-pass radiator

- NISMO 3 " cast aluminum intake manifold (again gently match polished)

- K&N Filter for test days
- Fuel delivery system is a constant pressure regulated recalculating system, driven by a Holley electric pump, one pint Fram filter, all stainless lines

- Clutch: All fittings on the car are Aeroquip. 200mm Roadster clutch with a 4 puck un-sprung disc.
- Brakes: Tilton proportioning valve, undersize high PSI braided stainless lines throughout, Porterfield pads front and NISMO shoes in the rear.

Autometer RPM limiter which is set at 7500 RPM, wiper switch, and all lights are wired to one switch for night racing. (including removable 'comer lights')
- Exhaust header is NISMO, reduced to 2 I/2 inch for ground clearance, and flows through a Borla Free Flow muffler. The exhaust is modular (for easy service work) and has just been rebuilt by Bay Muffler. SuperTrapp Muffler included in Spares;
- Oil pan set up is such that oil pan drain plug is in the front or on the side of the oil pan. Oil pans have Rebello baffles welded in them, and the drain is on the side of all 3 pans. The oil filter is remote mounted Fram HPI.

- Transmission is a Rebello 4 speed with hand filed gear teeth, custom shift linkage, cryogenic treated gears, and wear items were replaced when bought in 2001 (bearings, Syncro rings, etc.)
- Differentials are a 411 LSD and a 438 LSD. Half shafts and drive line are built and balanced by Redding Brothers in Modesto, CA.

SAFETY: All safety devices installed but not sure if these are up to date. Window net, 5-point harnesses, ATL bladder fuel cell, central fire extinguisher system, emergency electrical shut off, Carter SCCA legal roll cage, and removable MOMO steering wheel. Also has a driver Thermos for long races.

SPARES: There are way too many to list. Here are a few, Rebello Drive Train: $4K motor, a full race tranny, 4:38 and 4:11 rear ends; balanced axles, four (4) spare Panasport wheels, electrical parts, brakes, exhaust, clutches, Weber 32/36 and some glass spares and Grille.
