WTS : 1972 4dr Datsun 510 Sedan, PoCo.
WTS : 1972 4dr Datsun 510 Sedan, PoCo.
It's an all metal 1972 Datsun 510 4 door Sedan.
So I need this gone like now. I'm willing to take quite a big loss the faster it gets gone. No rust holes or anything, just some random surface rust spots. Metal fenders, rockers, etc.
I'm not quite sure what to ask for it. So i figured I'd let you decide and call/text me. I know the rules don't like this idea, but I figured it would probably get this sold much quicker.
Tobie - (604) 704-6046
The GOOD:
So it's a mostly purple 4dr Sedan.
Black interior
The rear door handles were shaved off.
Lowered I think about 2-3 inches.
Riken "mesh" black/chrome rim, with 205/60/13s
1 inch front sway bar.
Prelude "SE/R" front seats.
L18 block, A87 head.
Matchbox distributer
Weber 32/36 down draught/draft? Carb.
Shorty header, 2inch exhaust to a chrome muffler with what looks like a chromed coffee tin exhaust tip.
Dogleg 5 speed. With Cam's shift knob. 200sx or 280zx shifter lever.
IR alternator from a Nissan of some sort.
Aftermarket removable bulb style headlights.
Indiglow blue/green glowing gauge cluster.
The BAD:
Paint.. The paint is fairly decent besides the drivers side doors. The previous owner apparently had a camp fire too close to the car, he said, but now the rear door is a pretty close match, where as the front was primer. They definitely need some love, however it's just paint on those two panels, the "campfire" didn't effect the actual body of the Sedan at all. There's some random surface rust bubbles here and there but because the previous owner had dumped like $6000 into the paint I didn't want to mess with it until I was ready to tackle it all at once.
The engine was a built L18, (I've got an envelope full of receipts from when it was built, just have to find it) it overheated and I haven't tried running it since. I was going to get the head done and put a new head gasket on before I ran it this year.

were do you put key to start it?
ding ding dong dong all night long long.
Re: WTS : 1972 4dr Datsun 510 Sedan, PoCo.
I took the ignition out for security reasons. Kinda don't trust some people around my house. A key some can get passed, but none of them are good with wiring... Haha.
Sorry i don't know what "scuff and shoot" means... The paint? I've got receipts from when they painted it the first time and it was "too pinkish" so they reshot it a deeper purple... That's why the paint cost him so much. But it apparently was brought right down to bare metal. I was extremely impressed with the metal on this. You're welcome to come check/test it out.
You know if you were able to come grab it soon you're almost right in the ballpark money wise....

Doesn't look like they would get far "if" it started.
Re: WTS : 1972 4dr Datsun 510 Sedan, PoCo.
I agree for the most part. This dime isn't about the engine that's currently in it. It's about how solid the car actually is. How the rockers, dog legs, fender lips, rear quarters, front and back floors, trunk... All of it is all original and doesn't have any cancerous rust... Just have to deal with the surface rust.
I kept the drivers door is on it because it's a '68 type. The kind where if you push down on the door handle it locks the door. Even my' 68 were missing these so I kinda didn't wanna swap it out.

Yo Tobie, how's going man?! Great to see you're still around. That 280Z transmission I got off you ages ago is still working great in my 240Z.
Good luck with the 510 sale!
Take car brutha,

Sad to see you out of the game Toby, so where did it go and what was the plan?

Toby's been patient enough to wait for me to arrange shipping to Ontario. I'm debating selling my "too clean to modify " California 2 door so I can do something more fun with this.

Got an empty spot in my garage for that, nice and dry there for some tlc......
Call me.
Call me.
I love my car deeply. I just sometimes wish it wasn't factory green.
Re: WTS : 1972 4dr Datsun 510 Sedan, PoCo.
Does anybody have regular contact with Tobie outside of the forum? I've paid for this vehicle in full. Though my communication with Tobie has fallen off as of late. He is apparently in the hospital. His past reputation on this forum appears to be positive. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt but I'm told I can't even pick up the car where it's parked?
Re: WTS : 1972 4dr Datsun 510 Sedan, PoCo.
Car was retrieved. Eventually.
