looks ok but it would have been nice if they did not cut the provisions for the seat belts and gas pedal as I imagine the placement of these items differ on year and whether its a 091, 092, 094, 095, 194, or the 195 auto estate ?

back to the hunt for the correct front and rear grab handle that would work on the provisions along the roof line. I explored the 240 door grab on 6 inchesImage

then I scored a stack of factory parts catalogs Image

could nissan have had the intention of running a Cedric handle on the pl510 ?

Image
model 31 front ass'y-strap assist 96701-34200 and 96750-322201 hanger-coat

or the later p130 straps

what year is Merlin's Cedric ?

the shake down

Post by RMS »

continued from Butters68 build: ImageImageImageImageImage

it wasn't long after we set off to the gas station that I found my self on a hoist and production @ kall ground to a halt.
ya see ...... after a quick valve job on Butters we were itching to hit the road. I ran through the list and put some foam tape on the top of the carb. out the gate and down river we went. seventy came very fast even though I was barfing black clouds when tromped. an easy sixty on the 90s to 5rd. vickers and five I ease past the stop line with vigor and into the pumps just down the road. gas door open, card in hand and a guy in a white e86 pulls up in a flurry. with a Nissan lug nut between two fingers.

Oops, any damage to the wheel?

The 68 rear end is clean looking. I am prejudice, of course.

broke down and drilled the car for the rear 68 garnish. its 0.5mm off :x I will need to enlarge the mounting holes to get it centered.

finished up installation of the af gauge. but im thinking : if I can see it blowing black its probably not in the range. so do I risk fouling the sensor or just go down a size before I fire it up with the o2 sensor installed ?

well I fired her up... I wasn't as far off as I thought. once the motor was at temp the af gauge was bouncing between 10 and 12. with much fiddling I got it wavering between 13 and 14. touchy idle screws... working between say one hour on the clock. with the idle close to 14.7 I slowly brought up the rpms to 2000 and the gauge read 16. fully pined to 18 on deceleration. running 50f9 and 130 main.

too many paint fumes ...... found that box of jets

Image

the jetting is good throughout the range except between 2900 and 3600 were under light load it falls to 10to 1 @ wot she's pulling 13.5.

next smaller main and smaller air correction ?

I tried swapping when on the road ........ pulled in to a gas station to swap the jets and as I was installing the holder the jet fell out and into the bottom of the carb  luckily two stir sticks worked to extract the offending jet.
