SEMA 2017

Post by 510wizard »

I am really looking forward to this years SEMA, at least two 510's will be there, the 2dr one that Troy Emish finished in five weeks and the Chris Forberg's wagon;

Also M2 should be showing some of their die casts and rumor has it that Pete Brock's Datzilla will be on display in Braille battery's booth. Os Giken 4 cylinder head also on display. Plus who knows what else might appear.

Got home last night from a week at SEMA enough walking to last me till next year! 180000 people esitmated average per day was 160000. Was at the breakfast with NHRA legends (John Force, Shirley Muldowney, Don "the snake" Prudhomme and Antron Brown). John is hilarious as when he is asked a question he go's on a rant telling other stories that come to mind only to say 5-10 minutes later "what was the question?" Also had a ticket for the awards ceremony dinner & entertainmet was Jimmie Vaughan, Billy F Gibbins (zz Top) Michael Anthony (Van Halen) Jeff Beck was a no-show. Awesome show and a great dinner for estimated 700-800 people! Vegas sure does know how to deal with crowds as we were shuttled on a complimentary bus to and from the show.Nice to see a number of 510's there as well as some z cars. Nice 5 week build from Troy Ermish, some are commenting that the car should have remained stock, I like the style they came up with though.Told my co-worker that this will fuel the want for our little gems that much more...

Wanted to go..... Had tickets..... Just wanted to spend the money on racecar parts instead haha. Would have been fun though. Cool to see all the pictures. Odd that most the Datsun's had blacked out trim. Cali style I guess. Back when I went in 06/07 there wasn't any Datsun's.

Good show this year, lots of Datsuns compared to previous years and a lot of them in the main show area, not in the shadows. Datsun's where the most popular marque of the Japanese at the show. Did notice that some of them seemed to be thrown together with not enough build time.

Doesn't this apply to about 75% of the cars at SEMA? It is cool that our little cars are getting more popular. More aftermarket support is never a bad thing!

The wagon was pretty bad, didn't have a rear bumper, mounting holes not even filled. I would have been ashamed to show in it at the local cars and coffee. Troy's built 510 was a lot nicer, I am sure there was some sleepless nights on that car to get it done in five weeks, but it did look nice. One common style this year is the short flares, doesn't look right to me.
