Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattndew76
So last night I was in the tank on my mood. I programmed the material removal from the plenum cavity on the bottom half of the intake......Well for some reason some machine settings in my processor spit out some really errant pathway in the code....Among 30,000 lines I wouldn't have even seen it either. So on the second step down in the cavity the End-Mill just took off into X Y axis space.
I spent the night until 3:00 AM trying to find a solution. I couldn't aside from rewriting a new post processor... That's the compiler that makes visual tool path on the screen translate into G & M code for the specific machine you run. I still couldn't see what my code was doing though. The visual sim in my CAM program was not the same as the code being generated.
I found a solution.
I feel very fortunate that I left extra material in the Z axis on the part.. For anyone who does what I do and don't have a code simulator I found one on the interwebs that to me is soooooooooooooo valuable.

Thank you.Heinrich wrote:Nice work, time consuming and nerve wrecking process .
I am trying to make an easy setup fixture along the way so producing these won’t be a challenge. Taking tons of time to get them right once.

Very nice! If these start selling in some numbers, have thought about having them cast?

It’s definitly an option. There is a local forge here that only works with aluminium. They seem very reasonable on the prices too.
I would have to consult with them about price per unit and plug design.
Another thing I am considering too is that if I can sell a substantial amount of these in the current form then it would finance a newer machine.
With a more modern CNC I know I could get these under $1000.00 a unit.

Team Pro-J
That company thinks they are the inventor of Clam shell intakes.
The owner or rep has sent me a message about my stuff. My very first clam shell intake was for a jet ski 7 years before Pro-j, and several other companies have done these since the late 90’s
Pro-J is not a company I am a fan of after they said some rude stuff to me.
They do good work, but F them personally.
