1974 260Z

Well, here we go again. Thanks to the person in the island who found this car for me, it was a verry good find indeed.

I picked up this Z about a month ago, and have been doing work on it since then to get it back into shape after being stored for 10 years.

The good:
Steel flared fenders
S.T. Springs
Koni shocks
5 speed
High compression L28 w/ 2'' Jaguar SU carbs
Mint interior
15x9 ferrari style wheels
No rust in the entire rear half of the car

The bad:
Rust in the windshield pillars
Rust in the D/S floor pan
Rust in the inner front fenders
front fenders are full of bondo and have been patched 3-4 times
Miscellanious dents here and there, along with cracking bondo.
Brakes were siezed from sitting so long
Fuel tank was full of varnish.

So it's in need of a restoration.

And so far ive repaired/upgraded:
Rear diffrential (3.90 LSD R180)
Upgrade to rear disc brakes (240sx calipers w/300zx rotors)
High flow electric fuel pump
Gas tank has been boiled out and lined
New urethaine bushings all the way around
New front rotors & calipers
New inner fenders
And the drivers side floor has been welded up
Im just waiting on some front fenders, and It should be ready for paint pretty soon.

Thta's really common rust. How are the frame rails inder the battery (T/C box area?) Good to see your back on a Datsun, and lost past that zoom, zoom phase!! :-)

yes that area and the inner front fenders are the worst. it looks like a nice clean repairs. it also looks like the lip on the top is complete and not rusted to shit like most datsuns ive seen. i once met a guy who was doing a ground up resto of a 510 and had bought almost all this front end from speciality and had spent close to 10 grand just on the front end and engine bay paint and all this little detail work but he had left the lip up top rusted and in some places gone and just painted over it. i shake my head when i just done get why people do somethings. also he had left his strut tower caps on and painted over them. hahah fuck i had a good laugh from that.

I just got a few more pieces back from upholstery and paint and will be installing them this weekend but that's pretty much what it looks like as of today.
